Is a total wedding budget of $40,000 realistic?

Hi,

I am currently trying to decide if I should have my wedding on Long Island or Hershey PA.

I think I could have a beautiful wedding at the Hotel Hershey for around $40,000 - 175 guests, Saturday night, Summer/Spring of 2006, open bar, great food, golf, spa....

To have the same type of wedding on Long Island I feel that it would cost around $60K...is that about right?

I am trying to come up with a budget with my dad, and we would appreciate advice from people who are experiencing it first hand.

it's absolutely possible, even on LI...but PA would be a heck of a lot cheaper

We are inviting the same number and coming in just under 40K Including Honeymoon.

Mine was less than $30 and that included everything (pics, flowers, etc...) for 200 guests

You can have a wedding for $40,000 on LI, I am having one on LI and it's waaaaaaay cheaper than that and it's going to be beautiful. It's your day, you can do what you want at a lower price and it can still be wonderful.

You can have an amazing wedding for under way $40k. Our came to about $35k including honeymoon, we are having the reception at a beautifal place w/ about 170 people.
If you don't mind me asking, what are you planning that it will cost $60,000?
Any wedding on long island is expensive, I really would have thought having your wedding in PA would be much cheaper than that. -Kelly

Ours is about $40k for 180 people including the HM and rings. It can definitely be done beautifully on LI for that price, but not at the Reception halls you mentioned in your similar post on BHB.

If you stay at around $100pp person for your reception hall you can definitely do it for that budget. But that means no Harrison House, no Bourne Mansion, no Oheka Castle, no Land's End, no FlowerFields. But there are alot of GORGEOUS sites that are NOT those, but are in that price range. I don't know what the Hersey Hotel is like in PA but that's what you have to compare... is what are you getting there that you wouldn't be getting here.

You definitely may want to check prices on Long Island before deciding on PA. I was originally going to get married in Southeastern Connecticut where I grew up, figuring it would be much more expensive on Long Island. It turns out, Long Island was MUCH cheaper since there is much more competition. And you get much more for you $$.

I feel $40,000 is a realistic budget to have on LI...
PA may be cheaper but you could def have a beautiful wedding on LI...

Hersey, PA is so cool with the little hersey kisses on the street lights...
