Thursday Wedding before July 4th?
Hi girls......my rabbi won't marry us until one hour after sun down on a saturday during the summer in order to observe shabbat. What do you think of getting married on the thursday before july 4th weekend? Our out of town guests could extend their stay in long island to make a vacation out of it????? (not to mention how much mula my parents ave)

Re: Thursday Wedding before July 4th?
i don't know - i think if a lot of people are coming from out of town, it's a lot to ask them to take 2 days off of work...JMO

Re: Thursday Wedding before July 4th?
but if you're having the wedding on thursday, they would need that day off as well, wouldn't they?maybe i'm misunderstanding what you're planning.
and not everyone might be getting friday off for the holiday....

Re: Thursday Wedding before July 4th?
I work with someone who's daughter is getting married on the Thursday before Labor Day weekend (next year) b/c of the same reason. I questioned whether it would be an inconvience for people, but he said that they figured that people could just take off the next day and extend their holiday weekend. He also said they saved a lot of $$ b/c Thursday (even before a holiday) is considered week day prices (unlike a Friday, Sat or Sun).

Re: Thursday Wedding before July 4th?
love that idea. I am having it that weekend too for the same out of town guest reasons. They already have a 3-4 day weekend.I think that the Thursday evening time slot depends on whether or not you are having a huge wedding or a small one. If you are having a small one (like me) most of your guests would come hell or high water because you are really close to them but with a larger wedding you may have a lot of people saying no becuase they would need to leave work early on Thursday to make it home, change, and get to the wedding.
Does that make sense???? I don't know... you could start asking around to a lot of your potential guests to get opinions but that might be a pain.
Bridal Bliss...I also work with someone who's daughter is doing it the Thursday before labor day I wonder if its the same person?.. and we are getting married on the same day! Spooky!!
