Re: So I have been thinking a while for how I wanted to say this

Extremely well written and thoughtful, Deb. I commend you and thank you for sharing

However I also wholeheartedly agree with FLaCaTaCa. Moving on is THE best way to get past "drama" situations. Putting it far behind us is the only way to help get us back to the "business" at hand. That is, future brides helping and supporting one another plan their weddings, as well as past brides sharing our wedding experiences.

Unfortunately it seems that the more we talk about "not wanting drama," the more it often continues. People who weren't even involved originally will start getting curious, the discussion is rehashed again, and those good intentioned threads about "please no more drama" actually do the opposite .. and they PREVENT us from moving forward! (again, I mean no disrespect towards Deb ...)

Ladies: this might be a message board, but its still life. We are never ALL going to "get along" Yet overall, the good stills outweighs the bad ... I think most days on LIW is pretty terrific. Its only the 'drama' filled days that get so much attention and those are the days that stick out in our minds!

LIWs is going to be around for a long time to come... even when we've finally moved on, are all old and gray, and telling our grandkids about what a crazy, strange and wonderful website we used to be addicted to!! (knowing me, I'll probably STILL be addicted )

Just don't let it get the best of us, ok??

to all!!

Re: So I have been thinking a while for how I wanted to say this

I think it's so funny......of course talking about not wanting drama, at the end of the day, surmounts to absolutely nothing. Our words must reflect our intentions.

I hear you about the "bling bling" comment that completely, 100% put me off before, but I have to say - some of the things we write are so hypocritical. I was just reading some of threads where someone was putting a future bride's florist down - calling the centerpieces "underwhelming." Is that nice? No. Hypocritical? I think so.

Re: So I have been thinking a while for how I wanted to say this

Fun:
I saw that thread -- and I didn't think that was what was meant at all! Just goes to show you how totally differently people can interpret what is written and said. I don't remember it exactly but it was like they had not liked some of the flowers at a wedding or something. Someone else even pointed out (don't hold me to it but I think in the same thread) how independent each person's experience with a vendor is and just how you can't rely on one person's bad experience to go on. I mean I have been to weddings where I hate the band or flowers but the bride/groom loved them as did other guests. And there will be people who hate my band and flowers and everything. You have to accept that people will have different tastes and experiences and not obsess about it. Life is WAY too short.
Anyway, just what I think.
Hope you have a nice weekend!

palebride and i had funny drama. when was that? like two weeks ago! i think i almost bit your head off!!

I totally agree with Deb and commend her for being a voice of reason. I don't enjoy the drama but sometimes it is safer to biatch about my FH, FMIL & FBIL on here than to their faces!!
I don't care if you all are spending $1 or a million dollars on your wedding. It is about you and your FH and the beginning of a life together. When can we get back to talking about the planning??? PLEASE! I need to see more flower pics and more bm dress pics!!

Very well said Deb. You must have been reading my mind. I feel that sometimes when you write something it is easier to be misconstrued than when you speak to people, hence the drama.

Well said!

You should all do what I do and not take things like drama seriously. Just realize that this is the internet, all it really is (in techie terms) are a bunch of 1s and 0s.
