NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

For any of you girls out there thinking of chemically straightening your hair.........DON'T DO IT!!!!

I had it done twice, my hair is stick straight and looks great but I can't do ANYTHING with it. Now my hair is super long and all I am craving for is my curls back!!!

I love my long hair but am seriously thinking of chopping my hair just to get back to original hair (which is growing out and at about my chin)

Re: NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

wow - I was just talking to my mom about this last night.

I probably wouldn't do it for the wedding, because I wanted some kind of curl, but can you explain a bit more about it. I'm not sure whats involved.

Re: NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

The whole purpose of Japanese Hair Straightening is to have your hair completly straight.
One of my friends had it done & she had great results & loved how it look.

It's kinda funny, girls who have straight hair always want curly & vice versa.

Re: NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

My stylist actually told me not to do it if you intend on having any kind of curly styles in the future.

Sorry you had such a bad experience

Same here. I love my hair straight but I wear it curly often also. My friend did the japanese thing and is growing it out now cause she misses her curls.

Re: NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

So the straigheneing process is like a perm in the sense that it takes six hours to do, and tiny little irons are used to straighten out your hair. Your hair becomes PERFECTLY straight - no fly aways, wisps - and the best part is when you get out of the shower and it dries straight! it's great during the summer.

the drawbacks is there is no curl, bounce or ANYTHING to my hair anymore and i used to have such cute curls =(

the only way to grow out the perm is to literally wait for your hair to grow out! my stylist told me to wait 2 years (so far it's been 9 mos.!)

i'm thinking of letting my hair grow for my wedding (7/30/05) and then cut it right before so it'll be natural and curly.

I would let it grow out. How does your hair look curly. Any pics?

Re: NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

I personally hate my curls..they are always very frizzy & hard to control., and the curls on the right side are tighter thanthe curls on the left...I set it in rollers just to get most of the frizz out & to get some bounce, b/c I cannot get it perfectly straight, but I don't hink I would miss that. I actually would like my hair to be stick-straight & would love to never have to set it in rollers ever again! But that is not for everyone...

Re: NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

Yeah actually I would love a pic. I just don't believe anything could straighten my hair. I have really thick hair that would frizz if its straight. Some people with wavy hair consider it curly, and this process would look great - for me I just don't believe it.

I wouldn't want no curl at all for the wedding, but I would love to give it a try after.

I heard it is about $500-600 - is that right? and where would you get it done?

And then doesn't it look funny growning back.

How do you manage if half your hair is curly and half is stick straight??? That's the part I was worried about!

Me too. Once it grows in a bit, your roots are curly. What do you do w/ it then? I have REALLY curly roots. I wouldn't want to have to blow out just the roots.

Thanks sweetie but that is my hair after being set w/ rollers and blowing it out a bit. My hair is tight spiral curls. I get it blown out alot. I wish my hair was always like that day.

Re: NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

i had japanese straightening twice and i absolutely love it. it came out better the 2nd time b/c then i had no color in my hair at all. DO NOT DO IT IF YOU HAVE HIGHLIGHTS!!!
it is really straight but that is what i paid for. i can get my ends rolled under if i want w/ a big round brush/ it is so worth it. i had really really really curly hair and never wore it curly, so this is the best thing in the world for me!!! if anyone has any questions about it feel free to ask me.!!!

Re: NWR: Japanese Hair Straighteneing!

My aunt gets it done every 6 months. She loves it. She does not have to worry about her hair frizzing or curling up when it is humid or when it rains. She will sometimes complain that she would like more body. I really want to get it done, but I have wait until my highlights grow out.

I will. I don't want my hair to fall out. Especially if theres any trace of bleach in my hair. I am still thinking about it though. My hair takes over an hour to blow dry, then another 20 min to iron it w/ my Chi iron.
