Going to my first florist tonight - should I...

Tell them my budget first, or tell them what I want and then see how much it is? I am totally clueless!!

Thanks!!

Re: Going to my first florist tonight - should I...

I told them what I wanted. I went to 2 florist before I ultimately ended up at Burton's - their prices can't be beat!

I would tell them what you are looking for first. Why settle....If you give a budget they may show you flowers you are not interested in. Who are you going to?

I told them what I wanted first, and then they told me the price.

Re: Going to my first florist tonight - should I...

we just explained what we were looking for (classy but not overwhelming) and our colors... our florist did a great job of suggesting flowers to us and then gave us the price... of course it was a little high so we got it down a bit...

I told them colors and a flexible budget to work with. I gave them a $500 swing just to see what was available.

Re: Going to my first florist tonight - should I...

My research on this topic with friends who are recently wed is to go in and say, I am open on budget and am looking for this and this....these are my colors---all past brides have told me to bring as many examples of actual wedding colors, dress swatches, pics of the room, or website pics as possible -- it will really help them. Ideally, go to the florist you are least interested in first just to get a sense of price...then you can use that number to figure out the quote to give to number two and so on. They also will have the flexibility to recommend different kinds of flowers, some in and some out of season depending on budget and what you desire.

I told mine what I wanted and what I wanted to pay and we worked from there.

Also, I have been FM'ing and asking girls what they paid for things that I like to get a sense. Most folks are pretty open about sharing and it really helps.
