another little convo about FMIL and favors..with poll

I am laughing because she truly is funny, and such a sweet heart.. but very BLUNT

My mom really wanted to do Godiva chocolates.. the boxes are so pretty..

My FMIL wants to do Small totes, with a new york times, bagels, and personalized tea/cofees, and some water.

I told my FMIL about the godivas ans she said

'no offense, please don't take this the wrong way, but I've been to a lot of weddings and the chocolate thing is OLD'-- I took no offense to it, but my mom would, so I didn't mention it to my mom..

My mom isnt' going to like the tote idea, but I do, I think it's cute.. LOL.. this is getting funny..

What do you guys think???

I like both ideas. The tote seems like it could get pricey though and for that reason, I would steer clear from it personally. I think the chocolate is a great idea and might be less expensive. This all depends on your own personal budget and opinions though.

I thought so too, but she's paying for it ALL!! and the totes are only $1.49 each for wholesale, and the bagels, are .60 a piece, and we can buy the coffee packs wholesale for like $20.. It's not that bad, for anyone that wants to do it.. about $3.00 per favor

The godivas are $3.95 per box

Re: another little convo about FMIL and favors..with poll

My vote is YOU decide what you want to do !! That way no one 's mom is offended !!
BTW, I'm doing Godiva chocolates, part of the reason is b/c I don't like when Wedding favors are handed out @ the end of the night, and I like something very small on the table. - I guess they are a little played out. - But who cares ? I like them !!! =)
The tote is a cute idea, but I feel like it can be very expensive.
And i'm sure i'm going to get attacked for this, but I really don't 'get' the whole newspaper and bagel thing........it's not 6am !!

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET ATTACKED AT ALL!!!! I LOVE THE godiva idea, they are beautifully wrapped, and they are darn good too.. Our wedding ends at 1:30am, so it's an ok, idea.. but we're having a breakfast the next day uggh.. She is paying .

Thanks for your opinions girls!!!!!!!!!!

I like the tote Idea, I love to get goodies, and the totes are nice, so they are reusable, I don't think anyone will throw that out.. Thanks girls!

Re: another little convo about FMIL and favors..with poll

Personally, I would definitely prefer the tote, but you'll find just as many people who would prefer the chocolates. Go with whatever you like. I don't know if this matters to you, but the tote is more unique.

Could I possibly borrow your FMIL?
Just until my wedding and then I'll give her back I promise.

To answer your question, I like both favors but the tote idea got my vote.
It's a little bag you get a few surprises in.

Re: another little convo about FMIL and favors..with poll

I'm confused... you will have a tote per couple at the wedding (or per person - doesnt matter)? I think its a very nice idea for any OOT guests to leave in their rooms but I think its a little strange for the reception. Maybe i am not picturing the set-up correctly. How would you have them at the reception?

ETA: I just re-read the post and if you are having a breakfast then I don't get the bagel idea. Maybe a tote with something else inside?

Re: another little convo about FMIL and favors..with poll

I think the tote is so cute, and something people would always talk about ya know? I would anyway, be telling everyone the next day at work! BUT..whos paying? It could be a lot more then the Chocolates...If its not a matter of money...then my vote is for the totes!

Re: another little convo about FMIL and favors..with poll

he tote bag! I actually wanted to do something similar BUT...

How are you going to get the bags put together. I mean who is going to stuff the bagels and the newspapers in the bags.. It has to be done the day of you wedding right?

Let me know. My mom and I have been disputing this for some time now.

Re: another little convo about FMIL and favors..with poll

I say go with the chocolates (which NEVER get old!!!! especially if you personalize the box in some cute way). Your wedding is at 7PM; I would bet that most of your guests would have read the daily paper by then! And if you are having breakfast the next morning, when will people eat the bagels?

Maybe you want to keep looking around for an idea that is all your own and not something your mother and FMIL are so invested in? Remember: it's YOUR wedding!

I'd vote for the tote-bag...I think thats a great re-usable favor, and one that your guests will probably love...but you have to love it too!

IMO, if you're having a breakfast the next day, the bagel in a tote isn't the best idea. It's really cute though, maybe you could do it as a welcome kind of thing for your oot guests who are staying at the inn. If I were you, I'd pick something completely different, this way you aren't siding with anyone.
