Dress Sizes
I found my dress whoo hoo..but they want to order me a 13/14. I wear a size 6/8 normally but I guess my measurments fit the 13/14. Is it easier to take in a dress then let it out..

It is much easier to take a dress in than to let it out!

Re: Dress Sizes
Yeah I'm 38- 27 1/2 - 38...I guess thats why but on the size chart the 11/12 had almost the same measurments..plus i'll be wearing like a corset bra..i dont want them to order a huge size so it messes up the design in the front by taking it in

Re: Dress Sizes
I'm worried now. I'm a 2/4 and they only ordered me a 6. It probably won't get anywhere near me!!! I do have no boobs, so that could be why

When you go in to the shops - ask them about the alterations and where all the seams are located. There should be enough seems on the dress so that they can alter it without compromising the look of the dress.
They are going to take in all over the dress, not just in one place - they should be able to make sure it is done right.

Re: Dress Sizes
That's also something you should look for when you go to a salon - not only the quality of the salon/sales people, but the quality of the seamstresses...JUST AS IMPORTANT

Re: Dress Sizes
they should make the sizes in reverse. why do they want to make a bride feel bad about her size?! 'shes a 2? aahhh, lets change that to a 10' I'd cry. They should reverse it like if your a 6 make you a 2, if youre a 2 (negative) -2 could work!

Me too! I have a larger waist compared to my other measurements- luckily its a corset back- so no alterations.

Re: Dress Sizes
The bust and waist are the most important cuz your hips are usually found somewhere under lots of fluff or flow!I was in my friends bridal party and the CWC ordered my dress to fit my hips... BIG mistake! There would have been no problem with the hips cuz the dress was so flowy that it was definetly wide enough... but the chest was SO big (and I have a decent sized chest!) that they couldn't alter it enough to fit correctly... this happened to 5 of 6 of us!!
So, just make sure you aren't getting the dress size to fit your hips... unless you're wearing a sheath!
