Bridesmaid Fitting at BALDWIN WEDDING PLAZA .....UPDATE 9/24...things are starting to look up!

Tonight I met my BM's at the BRIDAL PLAZA in Baldwin. We ordered Alfred Angelo Separates back in January. We ordered 4 chiffon skirts (style MSKT-B) and two different style tops (style 6804 and style 6501). Today my girls went for their fittings and to my surprise, style 6804 had SILVER OUTLINED flowers scattered across the shirt. When we ordered the dresses, we were assured that their would not be any contrast between the embroidery and the color of the dress. Also, when you view the dress styles on-line, there is no mention of a silver outline. I am HATING the silver! The dresses don't even look like they were ordered from the same collection!

The BRIDAL PLAZA'S response is "Oh well, that's a new dress it was the first time we ordered it, we didn't know the flowers would be outlined in silver. We could add silver to the other dresses if you'd like." I don't think so! That is what I hate aboout the dress, the SILVER!

I am very disappointed.

Are you "stuck" with these dresses? That seems very unfair. Did you see a sample when you ordered? Perhaps if you call Alfred Angelo and tell them their website and distributor misled you!
BUT...if it can't be fixed, try to see the beauty in them by realizing they are being worn by your friends...Your wedding day should not have one ounce of unhappiness in it! Good luck!

We did see a sample, but the sample dress was silver and there was NO contrast between the dress color and the stitching. I specifically asked the woman at the bridal salon if the beading/ embroidery would be in Navy, and she said it would. She no longer works at the salon, so I guess she is no help to me now. According to the Bridal Plaza, there is nothing that can be done.

I did e-mail Alfred Angelo last night, no response yet. One of my BM's just e-mailed them and will also send a hard copy of the letter to their offices. She also found a phone # for all of us to call. It can't hurt to see if they can help!

I know it's not the end of the world here, I am just very disappointed by the way the dresses look and by the way I have been treated by the Wedding Plaza!

It does make me feel better! I'm going to attach a copy of the letter my BM wrote:
To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to you today in order to appeal to your company to rectify what I feel is a serious misrepresentation. We believe that the dresses that we ordered from your company were not clearly defined and represented via your website and the in-store samples, and are hoping that you can assist us in coming to a workable solution.

For my friend Mary XXXXXXX's wedding on October 30, 2004, we ordered four bridesmaid dresses from The Bridal Plaza in Baldwin, New York (516) 223-2020. The dresses were from your separates collection: 4 navy chiffon skirts (Style MSKT-B), and then two of each of the following style tops: style 6804 and style 6501. The samples in the store were a light blue, and our main concern from the beginning was that when ordered in the navy, we wanted to make sure that the beading/embroidery would match on both sets of tops. We were assured that they indeed would. On both the lighter dress samples and your website, there is no definitive difference in either the appearance or description of these tops.

Upon viewing the dresses in navy yesterday, we were extremely distressed to see a DRAMATIC difference in the appearance of style 6804- the bright silver outlining of the flowers on this style does in no way match the appearance of style 6501.

We were told that there is nothing that can be done to rectify the situation, but I appeal to you on the grounds that there is still more than a month until the wedding, and I feel that this is a considerable misrepresentation on your company's part. Kindly, I point out again that not only were the lighter in-store sample dresses not a clear indication of what the navy would appear as, but your website also includes no variety in its written description which describes any difference.

We are pleased with the dress collection that your company offers, and want to continue recommending Alfred Angelo to other prospective brides that we know. In order to ensure your customer satisfaction, I urge you to please contact either the bride, Mary XXXXXXX (516)555-5555 and/or The Bridal Plaza in Baldwin in order to assist in working out a satisfactory solution for all. Any assistance you offer will be appreciated; thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Here's the update!

Alfred Angelo contacted the Bridal Plaza on Wednesday and presented them with 2 options

1) Pick 2 new tops that would be rush ordered to arrive by 10/22 which, they assured me, would still be enough time to alter the tops

2) Do some sort of "wrapping" procedure that would cover the silver outline

I went to the bridal salon yesterday to see the one top that had been "wrapped" and it looked pretty good! All the iridescent beeds had been removed and the silver has dissappeared! I don't think anyone will be able to tell that anything was done to these two tops (at least I hope not!)
The thought of waiting until 10/22 for the new tops (8 days before the wedding!!!) made me a bit nervous, so I hope all continues to go well with this wrapping procedure!
The people at the Bridal Plaza were very nice and worked very hard to try and fix the situation (even though they acted like they had no idea I was unhappy at the fitting and were surprised to hear there was a problem from Alfred Angelo )

Both of these companies really tried hard to please me, and for that I thank them!

I am back to being a happy bride!

Im so glad to hear everything worked out for the best. Not for nothing, but it seems like alfred angelo went above and beyond!!! Hooray for a great vendor!!!
