We put a Offer on a house and it was acceppted Updated

The engineer is going in the morning and then we just have to wait to go to contract. Now I really think I am going to lose my mind A wedding in 3 1/2 mths, dealing with buying a house and going thru the holidays working Retail. Shoot me now!!

Thanks girls for all your good wishes. Engineer went in on Friday morning and everything is good one or two very minor things that the homeowner needs to take care of. Now just waiting for the contracts.

We got a phone call on Sunday morning saying that there was another couple that put an offer on the house and they accepted that. The only good thing about the whole thing is that they said they will refund my engineer fee's.
I get ticked off everytime I think how I let myself get so excited about it. Now the other problem I havnt seen anything out there at can even begin to compare to this house.

Oh my goodness!! I'm going throught same thing right now. We put a bid down on a house, it was accepted- the engineer is going to check things out on Saturday.....BUT I'm so not getting my hopes up! I learned the hard way- I was devastated the last time!! I'm actually trying not to even think about it! Where was this house and where else are you looking???

i don't get it? didn't you sign an 'engineer contigency'contract? why can't you submit another offer?

We weren't given the option to counter offer or put in another offer. Which is why we have our lawyer working on it supposedly they were suppose to at least allow us to counter offer. The listing agent was very vage and shady about the whole thing so we really dont know anything. The lawyer right now is just trying to get a straight answer just to answer some doubts we had. Supposedly they can legally do this until the day of closing but it is very rare once contracts are signed.

The house was in Massapequa, we are looking their wantagh, seaford, bellmore area.
Spent all day today looking at houses and it is getting very depressing. The only thing that was a maybe was 30grand more that we want to spend and on a busy street.
I guess I can post pic's of it now since there is no chance of me getting it

I'm sorry. That sucks! There is no stress like trying to buy a house and plan a wedding and you're doing both. God Bless! Don't worry I'm a big believer in things being meant to be. You'll find a house that will be perfect for u!

wait, you made an offer, had the engineer come in and in the meantime, someone else made an offer yet they would allow you to counter offer?

the house is gorgeous, but something sounds totally shady

ETA: i know it is NOT what you want to hear, but i strongly believe that things happen for a reason. also, it seems as if prices are leveling and in some areas even dropping. so, it might be better if you wait.

Thanks Girls... In my heart I know we are eventually going to find something nicer and that it happened for a reason. We de realize that the prices are starting to level out a little lets just hope they start going down.
