FMIL Problems VENT Sorry it's LONG

Okay here it goes. My invites are out and we are about 30 people over the limit. I gave the list to FMIL about 6 months ago and asked to look it over. She added a couple okay fine. Now she wants to add more. Her side out ways mine to begin with. She hasn't asked me how I am doing or offered any help. She is taking care of the RD and Limo's. My parents are taking care of the rest. I haven't heard a peep about the RD except how in the beginning when she was asking me to look into restaurants( expensive ones) how she was looking for a place for about 4 dollars a plate. I really didn't think that was funny since in the beginning I was thanking her for taking care of this and how I know that it's an expense. She told me then not to worry about the $ then comes out with that comment. Regardless now all of a sudden they have the extra $$ to add people to the list. Now I am fighting with my fiance because I said no. We are way over and don't even know where we are at yet. Am I a being unreasonable. I can't stand this stuff.

I'm in the same boat...the only advice I can offer is don't let it get between you & your FI. In the end it will all work out - the $, the guests, the FMIL...

Really, if the invites are out and you are over what your assumed limit would be, you can't add anymore. She should have given you those names earlier. Don't be bullied.

I agree with that, and I'm in the same boat (although invites not out yet). I think parents (even the well-meaning ones who love you) get carried away sometimes. My FH and I keep laughing about one unnamed parent of ours who keeps 'adding' to the list - we say if this parent doesn't stop, the two of us will have to sit in another room!

I know this, or something like this will happen to me. When FH's brother was married this past May, and it was SO ghetto the way the invites went out. Mostly due to FMIL. She gave half a$$ed lists (no zip, no full address, etc). Also, the invites were sent out in waves, as they got the info, they mailed them out. One of FMIL's friends got her invite 2 wks before wedding, she was offended and didn't come! I went thru the same kins of crap when planning her shower!!
