any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
we have a great opportunity to both get dresses at a beautiful old mansion- and i would LOVE to but that means we will see each other b4 the ceremony- i am not so superstitious i am just wondering if it will take away from the tradition- any thoughts? TIA

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
We are definitely doing this. I am not sure I really agree that being seen (in a moment that your photog will capture anyway) prior to ceremony in any way detracts from the incredible drama of walking down the aisle. Someone posted this notion some time back more eloquently than me but I firmly agree.

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
I was set on FI not seeing me until I walked down the aisle. But once I thought about it, I am going to take my pics first (of course, having the photographer capture his seeing me for the first time) and that way we actually get to enjoy this festive party we are throwing for ourselves!!!

We're still debating it. Definitely DON'T want to miss the cocktail hour, so we will probably do pics first.

Thanks everyone for the advice-- I am def going to do it. By the way GREAT idea to have the photographer get his expression when he does see me for the first time-- wherever it is!

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
We are taking pics together at the beach (weather pending ) at Atlantica before the ceremony. If we wait until after the ceremony, it might get too dark. When we get back to Atlantica after the ceremony, we'll have a bit of light left (hopefully a nice sunset), where we can take a few more, but won't need to rush.

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
We are taking pics before hand as well.
If you are concerend about it not being special this way (which I was Let your photographer know you would like that moment really captured when he first sees you - believe me, he will still have a reaction when he sees you coming down the aisle.
Also, I have geard alot of brides say it really eases the nerves and helps the time before the ceremony be less anxious.

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
We took our pictures before the ceremony. It was just as exciting to see each other for the first time. I think it made me less nervous about walking up the aisle since I didn't have the butterflies about seeing DH for the first time AND sharing those emotions with everyone I know.

We're taking pics before hand so we can make the rounds at the cocktail hour instead of taking pics the whole time and we can enjoy our entire reception.

We are taking pics before so we can relax and have a great time at the CH without feeling like we're rushing through pics so the reception can start. Plus, for theprice we're paying for this elaborate CH , we want to enjoy some of it!!

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
We are as well. My friend is a part time wedding consultant and she suggested having just myself and her (photographer) in the bridal suite and FH comes in blindfolded then they can take off the blindfold and caputure the moment.

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
We took our pics before, as much as we could. My photograhers captured the moment when I was walking into the room we were taking pics at and so did my videographer, so we were still able to get his reaction when he first saw me in my dress. Hope this helps.

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
We were going to take pictures together before the ceremony, but then were both realized we wanted it to be a surprise. So I taking pictures with everyone but him before the ceremony and he's taking pictures with everyone but me. This is still not set, we may go back to the orginal plan

Re: any brides going to take pics (w/ groom & wedding party) before the ceremony
We are taking pictures before the ceremony too! We just want to be able to spend as much time with the guests as possible. We are "capturing the moment" in photo and video when both he and my father (separate times of course) see me for the first time.
