Question on how to handle OOT guests and multiple hotel offerings...

I am getting married on the North Fork and my fiance and I are planning on staying at the Harborfront with a few friends and family members. The problem is that:
1.) The hotel is kind of expensive
2.) A 2 night stay is required
I am also recommending the Greenporter Hotel to my guests because it is less $, but they also require 2 nights minimum. For those guests don't want to stay for the entire weekend, I'm recommending the Best Western. My question is.....how do I let people know the 3 locations and senarios? Also, since we are not reserving 10 rooms in any 1 hotel, none of them are offering a discount.
Advice needed. TIA!!
Nicole

I was in a similar situation as you. I simply typed up a notecard with information about each hotel and their requirements. Im sending them out in the STD's.

Re: Question on how to handle OOT guests and multiple hotel offerings...

just send out a little info card with the hotels, their #'s, their night minimum, and their price and this way people can decide where they wanna stay...

Did either of you get a discount on rooms? I feel bad not offering anything to my guests.

Re: Question on how to handle OOT guests and multiple hotel offerings...

My situation was there's a hotel literally right next door to the reception hall. Even with a discount, my guests would have to stay 2 nights and if the rooms didnt book up, I would have to pay for them. The other hotel which is around the block gave us a better deal with no minimum or $$ responsibility. Maybe you can find a hotel that does offer a discount but is a bit father from the reception hall. You can always offer a shuttle bus for your guests.

Re: Question on how to handle OOT guests and multiple hotel offerings...

I put mine on a wedding website and put a little line in the save the date to check the website for lodging info. They have ones for free on the wedding channel .com

wedding website

Holiday inn express is in Hauppauge and offers a shuttle for your guest.

If you have a wedding website, which can be done easily off a template and costs in the neighborhood of $50 then put the web address on the STD's and send.
Alternately, send a list of hotels and restrictions and price with the STD's.

Re: Question on how to handle OOT guests and multiple hotel offerings...

I had the same thing so in the envelope with my std magnet i put the hotel info of where i blocked that the hotel provided with directions, my registry cards, and then on a business card typed up info for another hotel that is also local with name hotel address and telephone with a saying please call to reserve your room but at the bottom I put the after party will be at the .... so that they knew everyone is staying at the other hotel but they have an option. also the after hotel party is offering breakfast but I didnt include that im sure they will be told when they reserve or it will go through the grapevine. then I printed the directions from the website and copied it to fancy paper and included that as well so that they have a directional card for the other hotel too. there is no discount for the other too cause I didnt block. still a good rate though .
