Re: Sunset Harbor - Spill it ladies? Opinions?

My sister got married there this August...she loved it...we all loved it. The food and service were excellent (highly recommend the duck with raspberry sauce..big hit!!) For the price they offer you are getting way more than you pay for. My parents friends (as well as my parents) are begging me to get married there...I wanted to but also wanted my 'own' wedding...so there goes that lol It was definitely my second choice if I didn't like the Coral House so much.

I really love it! And they're so nice there! That's why I booked it.

Just so you know the pics on their site are not updated. They've improved some things since then. You should check it out!

Re: Sunset Harbor - Spill it ladies? Opinions?

My friend just got married there this past August and her wedding was really nice.

There were a couple of problems though and I will explain them. They were originally suppossed to get married outside but the weather forced them to have the ceremony inside where the reception was going to be. They set the room up nicely for the ceremony and while the coctail hour was going on in that large hallway the rearranged the tables to set up for the reception. The problem with the way the set up the coctail tables was they had this huge space for the cocktail hour but they arranged the tables and chairs in this tiny space that you literally had to have the person behind you get up so that you could get up from your table. They definately should have spread out the tables more and utilized all the space they had.

The food in the cocktail hour was delicious as where the pasta course & salad during the reception. I did not like my main entree which was sword fish (it was extremely fishy). Also, our waitress did not speak a word of english so it was a little tricky when we had to ask her for things like more water or butter for the table.

Other than that the place was great. They had a venetian hour that was to die for. Truly the best desserts (including the best chocolate covered strawberries I ever had). It was a very nice wedding.

Re: Sunset Harbor - Spill it ladies? Opinions?

I just went to my cousin's wedding there in September. The place is very nice and I thought the service was good. The food at the cocktail hour was great, although some of the selections I thought were wierd (but that might have been what my cousins chose). There was also plenty of seating and there was always someone coming by with a new passed hor'sdevour. The Viennese hour was also very good.

There were a few things that were disappointing:

1. During the outside ceremony on the deck, there was a lot of noise coming from their air conditioning units making it hard to hear the vows.

2. I thought the food at the reception was horrible. She had the fruit cocktail which did not seem very fresh, the salad was a bit wilted and the pasta course was okay but kind of bland. The entrees were veal, chicken or swordfish. My FH had the swordfish and it was horrible -- I've never had fishy swordfish before. I had the chicken which was supposed to be with walnuts and raisins, and instead it came in this thin beige tasteless sauce.

Re: Sunset Harbor - Spill it ladies? Opinions?

My sister guaranteed 150 people so they gave her the whole place for her wedding...that way she had a whole separate room for her cocktail hour..and for the bridal party to eat...it was really spaced out and nice...too bad your friend didnt' do that, but to some people 150 people to guarantee is a lot!
