NWR: Has anyone ever gotten laser hair removal?
Does it hurt? Does it leave you red? What is it like?

Re: NWR: Has anyone ever gotten laser hair removal?
Yes, I did it once. I mean to go back. It tingles a little bit but it only lasts for maybe an hour or two. Not enough that you will be uncomfortable. It leaves you a little red, but again, that goes away with the tingling.
It only takes a few minutes. It's a laser light that they shine on you. It is something that can be done during a lunch hour and you would still have time for lunch.

It doesn't hurt - But it's not a one shot deal. You have to go back several times. - I've never had it done, but my cousin has been doing to for years. -

Re: NWR: Has anyone ever gotten laser hair removal?
I just got it done on the bikini area. There's is some pain that I experienced. It's initially like a rubber band snap at your skin - that was OK, but it was the 1-2 seconds afterwards that I felt a burning sensation like hot pins sticking in your skin that I did not like at all. But there is no residual pain at all after that and I was a bit red afterwards. If you've done brazilian bikini waxing, you should be able to handle laser hair removal. It's been a couple days now and the area feels irritated and very itchy - I'm hoping its just healing from the treatment. I'm not sure if my reactions are the norm - or I'm more sensitive. Hope that helps.

Sorry I can't be of any help, I have never had it done, but those girls that have had the procedure, how effective is it? After a year or so, does some hair grow back or is it really permanent hair removal?TIA!

Re: NWR: Has anyone ever gotten laser hair removal?
I've been doing it for over a year. It's awesome and well worth some of the discomfort.I have done my upper lip, chin and neck (I used to get random ingrown hairs). Also my underarms, bikini, inner thigh, stomach line and toes.
It feels like little rubberbands snapped at your skin. It does leave you looking almost sunburn, but that goes away after an hour or so. It's good to put aloe on afterwards. It's 6 - 8 weeks between sessions and usually after the first 3 or 4, you are moved to maintenance to hit stray hairs. But its far better than waxing and shaving!
For more sensitive areas they recommend getting a cream called Emla which can be ordered online from Canada and it numbs the skin. I used it on my face and underarms the first times, but now I only use it on my bikini area.
I go to someone in Astoria which I highly recommend and she is far less expensive than anyplace I've heard of on Long Island. FM me if you want more info.

Re: NWR: Has anyone ever gotten laser hair removal?
I haven't gotten it yet but I am planning on getting it soon (within the next 6 months or so). I've been waxing for almost 4 years now and I'm just sick of hair removal altogether! Did you girls who got it done get it done by a doctor? I'm contemplating that, but it's a lot more money than just someone just trained to use a laser.

I have had my bikini area done about 3 times over and basically had the same experience. It has reduced the amount of hair but it isn't completely gone. It really depends on how many hair follicles you have laying dormant. I didn't do every 6-8 weeks like they recommend basically because of $. If you go as often as they suggest you get greater success faster. I would recommend it. It works much better for me than waxing which gives me ingrown hair :(
