Re: my final head count is...

The exact number. Everyone mgiht show. Or, even if somsone doens't show, someone might bring a guest or something that they didn't RSVP for.

ETA: you need all 173 places because you need to do the table layout and it ahs to be correct.even if you think 3 people won't show, you don't know which table would need less. you know what I mean?

that's what I was thinking...I didn't understand how people tell their halls a lower number when you may need all the place settings...

Re: my final head count is...

i don't know...i wish i told our hall two people less...that way, if i could tell them two days before 'hey, two more people are coming...bill me' rather than knowing a day after giving the final count that 4 people had to cancel.

Re: my final head count is...

That's great Janine. We started off with 215 and now we are at 158!

I can't believe how close we are to our big day!

Re: my final head count is...

Before my wedding, I would have said be honest about your count, but things happen. We lost quite a few right after we gave our final payment and wound up paying for empty seats. We invited 2 brothers and their dates and their uncle died the day before our wedding, that was four unpaid seats. My cousins wife called two days before the wedding and said he couldn't come because he couldn't get off from work. Not to sound like a b!tch or ungreatful, but they gave a $75 gift after I had paid $410 for their plates. Things happen. It's easier to pay for extras the night of the wedding then to pay for empty seats.

Re: my final head count is...

I can change my final headcount up to 48 hrs prior to the receotion so maybe I will tell them the exact number and then if there are any cancellations I can call them and let them know...
I just don't want to have to pay for people who aren't there...

Re: my final head count is...

I am giving my hall a number that is 3 or 4 lower, because I have a few wishy washy people that are still not sure if they are coming...but these people will be sitting with family if they do attend, and will know where to sit. I have them on my list of the tables, but will leave them off the list I give the hall and the placecards.

Re: my final head count is...

Try to do as much research as you can. If you have a lot of people traveling for the day, someone's relative is sick etc. than they could be no-shows. I was told by a few people in the industry to give them a slightly lower count..
