Cross-post from BHB - Helping Out the Newbies (PLEASE READ)

So I was having a conversation with my MOH last night over dinner. She is on this site but does not post very much. This is partly because she's a teacher so she's not on it constantly like a lot of us at business jobs. The other reason, and I think it's more important, is that she feels people don't answer her posts because she's not one of "the regulars".

I think this does have some validity to it because I know that I myself am more likely to click on a post of someone I "know" than someone I don't. However, since we were all Newbies at one point, I think it's really important for us to try and answer everyone's posts equally because that's what makes them feel welcome.

Just wanted to point this out to everyone because I know what a great resource I've found this website to be and I think it's a shame if not everyone gets the same out of it.

To the Newbies, I know that it took me a while to learn the ropes and post "catchy" topics. The key is all in how you word the subject so that it catches someone's eye that may have the information you are looking for.

i help out all the time & do try to make any new one feel welcome. I posted on the 2006 thread to initiate a GTG & they did - i was so happy for them.

I am sure we all try in our own way

This wasn't an accusation that no one helps, I was simply trying to point out that, although we may think we're helping, the perception is that they feel shunned to an extent.

I couldnt agree more... There are times I'm left in the dust as well.. What can ya do? Some people are just nice and out there and some people just cant be bothered with anyone new...and ya no what i say about that? *##*^&*% them! LOL

Sometimes it feels like there are cliques but tell her to post - I do the best I can to answer when I have any suggestions and I think most people try to. And people offer excellent suggestions.

I agree, and word of advice, if you want someone to look at your post really bad.. ADD A PIC It's bad, but we're all guilty of looking at every PICTURE

i admit i contribute to this because i hardly ever venture over to the bhb board since the 05 board came along....
