Anyone hiring a Bridal Dresser for the day of your wedding??

My friends both hired the seamstress who fitted them from their wedding salon.. I was thinking I would do the same.. I like the idea of someone doing tiny last minute alterations, steaming my dress and helping me get into it, handling my bustle.. everything!!

Was wondering if other people did this, or are planning to.

Nah, I'll have my mom and the BM and the wedding planner all there. That's enough for me.

I'm not. I have a very talented mom and nine doting BMs. If I need anything I'll be in good hands.

Randi,

That's a great idea! I wonder if Kleinfelds would allow that?

I called and asked-- apparently you work it out with your fitter on the side-- so, when you go for a fitting, you negotiate with them. It is not something that Kleinfeld offers.

They do offer a Bridal Attendant- which I told them I do not need, as the Carltun provides me with one-- but the one from Kleinfeld has seamstressing abilties... although, it is like $1500 for the day. I am waiting to hear back from them to see if they would provide someone for like 5 hours.. I don't need two Bridal Attendants for the whole wedding!

Every hall supplies you with a Bridal Attendant. She can do any last minute alterations and can bustle you and all. That's what she's there for.

$1500 for the day??? That sounds a little INSANE to me but I do understand what you mean My dress is a corsett back and I am not sure if my MOH will be able to do it

Re: Anyone hiring a Bridal Dresser for the day of your wedding??

I would not pay the $1500-- especially when I get a Bridal Attendant anyway.. It's really more to have someone to make sure my dress is PERFECT throughout the day..

The Bridal Attedant at the venue will get me water, food, whatever-- but, they won't know the dress, etc.

But Randi, at a high end place like the Carltun, I think that she would be really equipped to handle dress issues. Also are you doing a day of coordinator -- I think they do dress stuff too.

Re: Anyone hiring a Bridal Dresser for the day of your wedding??

I don't think this is necessary. Your dress is steamed before you pick it up, it will keep until the wedding day, you don't need to resteam it. Zippers and buttons are not that hard to do, your Mom and MOH can figure it out. If you think your dress is complicated, then have them come to your final fitting so they can practice (thats what mine did). And same with the bustle, it won't be done until after the ceremony, so have your MOH or Mom learn how to do it at the fitting.

No day of coordinator-- I spoke with my Banquet Manager and she told me it was unnecessary- she'll handle working with all my vendors.

I guess I need more info on what the Carltun's bridal attendant does..

Also, once I go for a fitting- if I can negotiate a good price with the fitter-- I may just do it for peace of mind.

Two of my good friends had someone- they got married at high end places as well- and they just raved about having their dressers there.
