Would it look crazy to have a mother-daughter dance?

My dad will walk me down the aisle, and I'll dance with him at the reception, but I also want to honor my mother and there won't be time at the ceremony because we need to keep it short due to it's close proximity to the start of cocktail hour. It's my mom that is paying the bulk of the expense for the wedding and I really need/want to honor her. If I have a special dance with her as well as my dad, would it look totally crazy? I've never seen a bride dance with her mom. TIA!

I sure hope not - that's what I'm having. My father is not around so it's me and my mother.

I dont think its crazy at all - if you want to dance a jig with all 10 of your aunts go and do it. Its your wedding - do what YOU want!!!

Nope - I think it's a beautiful gesture and I have seen it quite a lot recently.

FH's aunt did this, NO-ONE thought it was weird, everyone cried. I am thinking about it too! My mom very much wants to do it. I say go for it, it will mean so much to her if you do and who cares what anyone thinks, you both will remember it!

Re: Would it look crazy to have a mother-daughter dance?

My cousin did that...danced with her Mom to "Becasue you love me!" There wasn't a dry eye in the place...including my cousin and her mom...talk about mascara running...

Re: Would it look crazy to have a mother-daughter dance?

I went to a wedding this past year where the bride danced a special dance with her Mom and sister. It was so sweet and everyone was crying. They danced to "Why do blue birds suddenly appear everytime you are near. Just like me I long to be close to you." It was really emotional!

Just reading this thread brought tears to my eyes! Anything having to do with bride/family memeber dances makes me all weepy! And I can't even listen to any kind of wedding music without getting all teary-eyed.
I want to do a mother/daughter dance now!

I think it would be sweet. I wish I could dance with both my mom and my dad.cause they both are the reason I am who I am today!

Re: Would it look crazy to have a mother-daughter dance?

my friend who got married a couple of weeks ago did this. Her father passed away a few years ago, so her and her mother danced to "in my daughters eyes"... it was very emotional!!! I've also been considering doing the same thing w/ my mom

My mom wants to do one so badly. I'm glad to see that it has actually been done before. I say if you want to do it, go for it. Nice gesture.

Very beautiful and I'm sure your Mother would LOVE it. My sister did it at her wedding and I'm debating on splitting my dance between my brothers and mom. While I dance with one brother - I want the other dancing with my Mom, and then switch to the other brother.

Not crazy at all. My dad passed away 6 yrs ago and I am going to dance with my mom to a Mother's Prayer by Celine Dion.
