Is a long black dress OK for a Saturday Day wedding???

I have a wedding on Saturday and am usually really cold this time of year, and at reception halls in general. Is a long black dress OK or is it too formal?

I think it's too formal if the wedding is during the day.

I say it's great!!!! I have a feeling it's going to be formal even though it's a day wedding!

I think it will be perfect , it is November, and with day light savings, it gets dark so early Have a great time!!!

Well it is not THAT formal of a dress really. It is plain, long and straight, black halter top. It is a matte fabric.

You think its OK Beth?

I think you will be beautiful no matter what you wear! But I think long is fine--all of my relatives are wearing long, the BMs are wearing long...So I think it is perfect!

Julz,

I am going to a wedding on Friday and I am wearing, a 3/4 length black silk chiffon dress with satin and velvet. It is halter stlye dress I will try to find a pic, of it. The wedding is at Tappan Hill. I think, you will be fine.

I don't really think that a day wedding means it is not formal . . .

Also, it really depends on the dress itself, just because the dress is long and black doesn't mean it is formal.

I think you should wear whatever looks good and feels comfortable... it's a wedding... eveyone will be dressed nicely regardless if it's day or night...

I think if the wedding is at 11am, a long black dress might be too formal. I think a black cocktail dress might be better. Everyone at a wedding dresses nicely.

Hey, Julie I am deciding between 2 dresses. One is black and white and the other one is kinda like long sleeves right below the knew, it's different dress, but I like it.

I got married at 11am at the catering hall, and a BLACK DRESS is soo FINE to wear! I was soo afraid people were going to show up in casual clothes for a day wedding. All in all it's a wedding, you should be formal no matter what time of the day it is. Unless it is specified casual reception..JMHO

Hmmm I don't know why but I always think of wearing long dresses for night weddings and short ones for day weddings...
but I am going to wear the long
It really isn;t that formal of a dress besides... being long and black.

I had many people wear black dresses to my Saturday Day wedding....I can recall at least one being full length with the aseymmetrical hem and another being a 3/4 length with asymmetrical hem
