Any ideas for a place in NYC for my DH's 30th Bday party

I am lost. I have lived in NYC for 6 yrs, but I work in a bar and always go there because I drink cheap. Anyway, my Dh's 30th Bday is coming up and I need a place for around 30ppl. It does not have to be completely private, but it does need to be reasonable. I am looking for something in NYC. TIA!!!!!

I rented out the penthouse suite in the Mayflower Hotel for DH's. It was really nice and we got to stay overnight which was cool - even though we lived in the city at the time. It had a kitchen, living room dining room and large bedroom. Also a wrap around terrace with full view of the park. I brought in my own food and alcohol even though they tell you that you should use their catering services. It wasn't very cheap but when I started pricing our bars for just picky food and open bar for three hours - it was starting to add up and with this party I was able to invite more people.

As for bars, how about Divine bar or Mica Bar? My friend did the upstairs at Divine Bar in the 50's and they had great picky appetizers/tapas and open bar wine and beer. it was a nice party.

I threw a 30th birthday party for my best friend at Opal (on 53rd? and 2nd) a few months ago. I'm not the biggest fan of the bar itself, but having a private party there was great...they have a back room with its own tables, bar, music, etc. but you don't have to rent it out or guarantee any amount of people bc its technically not private. I had the party on a Sat night at 8pm, and since the bar doesn't really get crowded until about 10:30-11:00pm on a Saturday night, we had the entire room to ourselves for almost 3 hours. The drinks are reasonable and they had a pretty nice catering menu. I ordered 4 platters of appetizers for the party and they were all good. The service was good too.
I was definitely impressed with the place for a birthday party.
