Looking for somewhere to live

My Fiance and I started looking for somewhere to live and it is crazy how expensive it is on L.I. Does anyone have any advice on what areas we should look into that are both nice and affordable? Leaning towards suffolk county....

If you can go further east - try places like Setauket or Sound Beach. It seems like the trend will move the boroughs further east on the island. Therefore, you'll have to keep going further east to find more affordable deals.

Thanks, will look into those area. It really is crazy how much money houses are.

Actually, there are alot of deals in Sound Beach as well!! Your best bet is to hook up with a real estate agent and tell them what you are looking for (price, size, location, etc) and they will e-mail you updates of house for sale with your qualifications.

Setauket is $$$$--I work near there and we started looking there but there was nothing under $500,000...Try Sound Beach, Wading River, Miller Place, Lake Ronkonkoma...

i dont know if you are interested....but my parents are renting an apartment....its a one bedroom, with a full bath, eat in kitchen and a living room....its a basement but it has 8 foot ceilings so it def. does not have that basement feel.
