HELP!! I think FH is going to shoot me (NOT LITERALLY)

Ok, so we have ben engaged since July 18, 2004. I saw what felt like a million halls and we decided on Jericho Terrace and booked them in September for our June 2006 wedding.

We initially went in with the date of Fri July 21, 2006. The cost per person was $80. FH felt that was too much. We bardered (sp?) and finally came up with Thrus June 29, 2006 for $59 per person. Which is the Thur before 4th of July 'weekend' (4th of July is actually the Tues after our wedding). At first Thurs did not bother me. But now that I know we have a 175 minimum, I am scared.

Now I am slightly regreting the Thurs. I want to change it to Mon July 3, 2006. I ask FH to call the BM (who I ahve called about 4 times since we've booked asking questions) and he is not thrilled, but will do it, for me.

Any ideas?!?!? PLEASE!!!!!

I honestly am not crazy with the idea of a thursday wedding since I think most people still have work that day AND the next day. also if you are concerned about your min. I would think you have more chance of getting no's on that day.

But monday july 3rd is more $$, but if you can afford it I would go for it. If not keep your original date.

eta. what about tuesday july 4th?? you can have an afternoon wedding and people have off that day. having an afternoon wedding on a holiday should save you some $$$$$

IMO, I think it may be tough to guarantee 175 for the Thursday. Perhaps if you moved it to Fourth of July it would be less $$??

Think of it like this:
If you don't get 175, you're still going to have to pay for those plates...so maybe it's worth it to re-book on a day where you know you can get 175...even if you have to pay a little more.

Did you price out other days that weekend? What about Friday the 30th?

I am not crazy about that date either...a regular Thursday evening isn't bad but something about guests taking time off prior to a holiday when they may be planning to extend the weekend by taking the Monday as well.

We are still considering a Thursday night before a holiday Monday - or a holiday Monday. If you send STD's people will know far enough in advance for Thurs or Mon. The Holiday Monday may be the same price as Thurs. We were quoted $55pp for the regular menu at Jericho Terrace for 10/10/05 (Monday afternoon) with a 150 minimum for the Dome Room and 115 minimum for the Skylight Room (which was 125 but Mike Closs told us 115 after I called and asked to lower it)

Monday (afternoon) may be the better option for you though since the minimum is 150.

ETA - peole that take long weekends around holidays most often take off on Friday anyway so a Thursday night wedding would work around a holiday Monday.

Chances are that more people will be taking that Monday off anyway because July 4th is a Tuesday. If that's the case, less people will be willing to take off Friday. You could probably even do Monday during the day (the absolute cheapest... I'm doing this on Monday, July 4th 2005... FM me if you want to know price). Would it cause too much drama to take an informal survey among family? My gut is telling me, considering the calendar, people could accomodate a Monday wedding easier than a Thursday. Also consider how many OOTers are you inviting.
