Computer questions... (IT People I need help)

Okay so last night my computer totally crashed after trying to install service pack 2 from window's update.

I was on the phone with Dell until 4am, we did a parallel install of windows xp professional.

The Dell service tech suggested this so I can copy my files from the oldr install.

Okay here are my questions..

1) Now that I have copied the files, I can't install them because I don't really have enough space. I can run them from the program files I think? I was able to reinstall my firewall, and real player so far...
What should I do next?

2) How do delete the older install? so that I have room to launch my programs?

I hope this makes sense..

If anyone at all has the time and patience to help me, let me know and I'll FM you my phone number and maybe you can talk me through it..

Any advice or help will be much appriecated!!!!

Re: Computer questions... (IT People I need help)

hmmm
1. not really a question...not sure what else you need/want

2. how big is your Hard Drive..i find it hard that you would be running out of space to install applications. unless of course..you have that much stuff. you should reinstall application regardless... in your old instal, you can delete program files... i would leave windows alone for a lil bit...

let me konw if i can help with anything else...
i not sure what the problem is ... but answer #2 and i better undstand it

Before going forward with anything, I would attempt to find your data files (from the first install) and back them up. In the event you need to delete this hard drive space (for reinstalling files) or should the system become unstable again.

Re: Computer questions... (IT People I need help)

I was able to copy on to CD-Rom, reports, memo's, some picture files (wedding stuff of course lol) and some music files and I dumped all of that but it still won't let me reinstall aol, or Resource Tracking which I need for work...

What else should I back up?

It's also saying I don't have enough memory for re-installing my office suite

My system information at this moment
is
Physical memory 256mb
Available 91.31mb

Does that help?

Thanks again

what i meant was your hard drive...

double click my computer icon
on your c:\ drive, right click and select properties.. you will see in blue used space and pink, free space.. tell me what that says

i think you are having different problems..and not being able to install aol is very odd

is this when you first boot up?
