I just got backed into a VERY weird situation. I'm pretty bummed. (kinda long)

Just a little background- part of my job is to be an event planner. We do alot of events throughout the year, and not only can it get stressful, and not to mention there is ALOT of lifting of boxes and packing & unpacking involved, working the event non-stop with little breaks and since our events take place in other cities, ALOT of travel.

Well I was just called into my boss' office.

We have one of our main events coming up in June that I was the assistant on last year. I know the event inside and out and I'm ready to be the lead on it. This event will take place in Florida.
BUT
This September we are starting up another event in L.A. This event is brand new and I was offered to be the lead on it, which is such a HUGE honor.

But we have it all planned that we are going to start TTC in July.

Well my boss sat me down and was like: Cheryl, pick the event you want to be the lead on. So I said, the June event in Florida.
She is like- Why?
And I told her my reasons (I know the event... blah, blah, blah)
And she says, Well tell me the reason why you are turning down the L.A. event-
So I made up some lame excuse, and she is like- No, I'm not buying it. Are you planning to leave?
So I say no, I love it here.
And she says, well why don't you want the L.A. event it will advance your career etc.
Well I say well it's not that, it's just that I don't want the event for other reasons.
And she's like- what reasons?

And- She kind of backed me in a corner (not intentionally) and I told her that DH and I were thinking about starting a family, and there is a chance it might not be the best event for me to have to back out of if I was the lead on it, and couldn't work it!

So now I'm so weirded out that I told her. I really hope I didn't dig a grave for my career. I told her I would consult for the event, but I just feel like I let something REALLY personal out, and to my boss none the less. I wish I could take it back. I'm just feeling so stupid right now.

She said thanks for being so honest with her and was pretty cool about it.
But I hate that she knows the fact that I'm going to start TTC soon, and that she might think that I'm just going to write off my job and responsibilities when I'm PG. I'm not, but it just bothers me that she knows. I just feel like I exposed myself. I don't want her to hold back any responisbilities from me.
AND
I forgot to mention that I just asked for a promotion, and now with her knowing this... will she think differently about me?

How long is the event? I'm not sure why you turned it down....it's only 3 months after your TTC...who knows how long it will take to get PG and/or if you were it would be so early on...

DUH! Sorry! I just re-read about the heavy lifting...long hours etc...

All you can do is reassure her that your family planning will not affect your job and that when you do become pregnant you will be able to perform your duties with a few minor modifications (lifting...).

I think its great you told her, sounds like she backed you ina cornerand if ya didnt tell her, she would have assumed in her mind that you were quitting and that may have affected your job even more..is she a family person? Does she have children? Hopefully she can recognize the fact that us women are pretty awesome these days, we can do it all, we can stay at home with our kids, or we can work and still be an excellent mom...can you tell her your fears, or would that just make things worse?I wish ya all the best!!!
