A Program as a Fan?? Easy ideas on doing it yourself??
Am having an outdoor wedding in August and the FH came up with a great idea of having our programs double as fans. Have searched the web and found a few sites that sell them pre-printed, but i'm trying to save a few bucks. Anyone have ideas (or even better..templates) to do a program fan yourself???Thanks in advance!

we got married in august and we used oriental trading and got mini oriental fans (72 for 18$$$) and then printed our programs up on the computer.

Found these as ideas on other sites:http://www.weddingthings.com/wedding_program_fan.htm
But LOVE the one on this site:
http://www.custom-programs.com/
I really like the idea but the thought of spending $3/program (x250ppl) definitely makes it not worth it.
Any thoughts on making it yourself?

It looks like it can be done - it may just be some work. The second website you posted practically gives you the template! It looks like you need some heavy cardstock, hole punch, and some ribbon to make a very simple version, and then you can embellish.I would just cut five pieces, shaped exactly like the example they give, hole punch the bottom, tie them together and 'fan' them out - play around to see what may be the best way to get the pieces to operate as a fan.
Lots of work, but if you love them and you are a DIY kind of bride, then go for it.

I have done so much research on this. I was going to do it myself (make the fans that is) but then did a very stupid thing and got samples from a company down south and they were gorgeous, so... I decided I know its really not worth it but I am going to buy the fans for only half my guests (about 70, the men don't reallycare about them) and just do it, a waste of money or not. They are so different and beautiful for an outdoor ceremony so what the heck.

I think that is a fantastic idea! just curious...and this may be a stupid question..how would the fan programs work? Would you divide the program into sections and put one section on each piece of the fan?

My friend made them for her wedding in Jamaica. They weren't different pieces of paper that 'fanned' out, rather they were 2 pieces of paper glued together with a stick in the middle. They sound very 'pre-school project' but they were actually great. One side of the paper was bright flowers, and the other side was the program. She cut them so there were soft edges and glued them together around a flat wood stick. They looked really nice and they totally came in handy! It was hot as Hell during their ceremony.Welcome New Vendors
