Look what my mom gave us for Christmas, a little bit of a sad story behind it!!
My mom made us this beautiful tree skirt for Christmas. It took her 8 1/2 years to make it. She started making it in May 1996. She was working on it the night that police came to our door to tell us my brother was dead. From that day foward, she could not look at it, nor finish it. Well, now that DH and I are married, she wanted to finish it for us to use under our tree. So every night she has been working on it. She handed me the box tonight and said it was a gift from my brother, it was the tree skirt that she was working on the night of his death!! I must say, this is the absolute best Christmas gift that I have ever received in my life. It has so much meaning to it and will be in my family forever. I started crying when I opened it, and I'm crying as I type this. It was very hard for her to complete it. She told me she would have weird dreams at night and keep seeing my brothers face every time she worked on it!! I love my mom so much, and this was the best gift she could have ever given me!!

What an absolutely wonderful gift! I'm sure it was very difficult for your Mom to finish, but I am so happy she did finish it for you. May it celebrate many, many wonderful holidays with you!!!!
