Fortunoffs Westbury Fire today
Was anyone at Fortunoffs this afternoon when all the lights went out? Danielle and I were there, and all of the lights went out. It was Pitch Black...Thank god we were on the first floor. They blocked off all the escalators and then told everyone to leave the store a little while later....We had no idea that the store was on fire until we walked out side and saw the thick black smoke coming out of the roof of the store....We got in the car and left after Danielle said she thought it would be smart to go...I wanted to stay and watch.....
We got out of there in no time...and saw a lot of east meadow and north bellmore fire trucks heading towards westbury....

DH's office is back to back w/the mall and he said people were looking out the office windows to see what was going on. I just mentioned it to him, and he didnt know there was a fire. Im gonna try and catch the 1100 news.

Im glad you two go out ok. Considering all I've seen in my life and in my career as a claims person may I say, NEVER stay around.
Be safe and get to a safe place. And no, the parking lot two lots over does NOT count. Anything can happen there are too many factors!
We live down the road. Hadn't heard about this yet.

Yeah We watched the channel 12 news last night when we got back from seeing the fockers and dinner and we still didnt see anything about it. Very odd....Is it in todays paper?

Danielle and I know it happened....LOL...This stinks, because we finally found a table cloth we both liked, after trying to figure out which one to get...and we picked out this really nice wine themed chees board to go with a wine themed gift for our friends parents....

We were on the first floor and I believe they evacauted the whole store. If it wasnt a fire where was all the thick black smoke coming from?

They did evacuate the whole store...in fact, I believe that they evacuated the mall from old navy to fortunoff.
