REPOST FROM BHB: Anyone do the Poconos thing before?
i think that's what we're going to do for our hm but neither of us have ever been there before. any tips or things to avoid? how did you book - calling the place or a travel agent? any info is much appreciated!

Re: REPOST FROM BHB: Anyone do the Poconos thing before?
FH and I did when for our six month dating anniversary. We went to Ceasar's Cove Haven. We had an enormous room with a pool in it! It was cute but you have to understand the cheese factor before you get there and give yourself up to it. If you do that, it's fun. It is pretty expensive though - we realized afterward we could definitely have gone elsewhere for the $ but it was fun for a long weekend.

My best friend had hers there and she had a great time there. She said that she would recommend it to everyone.

Re: REPOST FROM BHB: Anyone do the Poconos thing before?
My parents had a vacation house in the Poconos in a community called Saw Creek, near Bushkill, PA. I haven't stayed at any resorts in the Poconos but have been there dozens of times. Some activities to recommend: Bushkill Falls, visiting/hiking Delaware Water Gap, the flea market on Rt 209 (it is open Saturdays and Sundays and is really big with good deals, though less vendors show up during the colder months). Also you should try some Pennsylvania Dutch cooking and consider driving around some of the quaint towns. There is a trolley tour that you can book but I don't know the name.I think some resorts may be a little on the cheesy side. Some book evening entertainment by '60s and '70s groups like the Isley Brothers or Do Wop acts. Some also cater more to families, so try to get a feel for that before you book.
The Poconos should be gorgeous during the time of year you are going, so enjoy! The landscape is beautiful!

DH and I went a few years ago to the Pocono resorts and had a great time. Yeah its a little cheesy but that makes it fun and its so romantic. There is so much to do besides staying in your room of course you will have a great time. I would recommend it to anyone. They really to cater to love and romance. There were a ton of honeymooners there as well.

Re: REPOST FROM BHB: Anyone do the Poconos thing before?
theres tons of b&bs and hotels in the poconos.. at my parents b&b they have honeymooners there every few weeks, so it really is a popular honeymooning spot.there's tons to do out there.. its just more spread out lol. if you have any questions just shoot me some FM.. i'm out there all the time.. in fact i'm headed back out there for new years lol.
www.pmvb.com lists a majority of the b&bs as well as resorts hotels and inns.. okay my commercial break is over lol
wherever you end up going, its your honeymoon, you'll have a wonderful time.
