Re: Calling all Yankee fans!!!!!! (YES I know there is a Yanks forum, but its my b'day and I couldn't resist)
the way i see it, the yankees are in a no-win situation
if you keep giambi, a player who has admitted using steroids, without any repercussions, this will tarnish their image and it will show that they really don't care HOW they win, as long as they win.
if you get rid of him, it tarnishes all of that "yankee loyalty" that they preach. After all, if Darryl Strawberry, a convicted drug addict has a place in the organization, why shouldn't Giambi.
But, hey Steinbrenner's problems aren't mine. I got my own jerry-curled loose cannon pitcher to deal with

LOL exactly. The Yanks are screwed. Not everybody is going to want to come to the Yanks now. Look what they did with Giambi. They certainly didn't mind his balco use when he was putting up monster numbers. Now they want to throw him out like yesterday's garbage.
And what they did with Vasquez is even worse. They totally backstabbed him. They trade for him... and then figuring that the Yanks wanted him and he had a future with the club... he signs an EXTENTION to his contract. How do the Yanks reward this? By trading him to one of the worst teams in the NL because they have Unit envy. Talk about stabbing you right in the back.
The "yankee loyalty" is a thing of the past. The Boss is in desperation mode now.

Well its better that he's YOUR problem than ours!
And I'm not commenting on the Giambi situation, b/c really I don't think ANY of know how that is going to play out
While i realize the rest of the team is up for discussion, honestly this thread was not created for any other intention other than to celebrate the fact that Tino is back... which I know most of us loyal Yankee fans are ecstatic about

1. if the keep him, they are doing it ONLY because of the money situation. So IMO their image is intact and understandable... And let's face it they wouldn't be keeping him to win anything...they havent' won a WS SINCE HAVING HIM !
2. If they get rid of him i don't think it tarnishes anything at all. He was an azz and deserves to get the boot off the team or benched or used as the most expensive bat boy ever... IMO...if you act like an azz, and you put your team through such bad publicity you deserve NO LOYALTY
i hated giambi right from the beginning

Re: Calling all Yankee fans!!!!!! (YES I know there is a Yanks forum, but I couldn't resist)
I actually think the Yankees would look better if they got rid of him. They'd be sending out a message to not only their team but to all of baseball that steriods is unacceptable, Keeping Strawberry when he had coke problems is different. Mantle and his drinking problems is different. These players did not cheat. Yes, they broke the rules, but I think cheating is far worse. Steriods enhance your playing ability and thus a player who uses them is a cheater.
Giambi cheated and the Yankees should give him the boot for it. IMO that is the only way the steriod issue will begin to be taken seriously.
I think the Yankees are going to sign Beltran and then knowing they have all teir positions filled they are going to tell Giambi to get lost. If they were going to keep him they would not be looking at ways to get his contract voided.
But it's all good because Tino is back. Any chance of Paulie coming back too?

Re: Calling all Yankee fans!!!!!! (YES I know there is a Yanks forum, but I couldn't resist)
Love love love Tino. My DH is jealous. I have Tino envy. I met him and Jeter at a bar a few years ago and they bought us some cocktails...too bad I was with DH at the time or I would have jumped him.
My predictions:
Giambi-out Beltran-in Johnson-in Vasquez-out
Did I mention that I love Tino?
