alteration recc...is june 1 too late to get alt. done for june 24th wedding??

Hi all,

I just found out that I will not be able to come back up in March, which is when I was planning on getting my dress altered. I will be up the first week of june- is this too late to get my dress altered with my wedding june 24? I wish my dress was with me in FL, but I left it in NY so I wouldn't be dragging it around from state to state....

My dress is from David's, but everyone tells you to stay away from there, did anyone have luck with them?

Well, IMO first week of June would be a little for me because I hate to do things last minute, but if there is not much to do with the dress I guess it should be fine. Call up the salon and ask them how many other brides will they be expecting to be there around that time because that might delay you getting the dress when you want it.

As long as the place where you're getting it done is reliable then you should be fine

Thanks ladies! I am going to check with some local alteration places, maybe some dry cleaners. Could anyone rec. some in suffolk?

Find out if David can alter it for you. Unfortunately, since you mentioned your dress is in NY and you can't bring it with you to FL. Your only other best alternative is to get it fitted in NY. The only thing that ***** is you have to get your measurements via phone or email to David. I would definitely contact David and find out the quote on getting alterations. Since you already brought the dress from them, it shouldn't be too much. Definitely DON'T get it altered on June 1st. That leaves the tailors too little time to work with, you would want to give them as much time as possible, preferably a month ahead around May. It gives both you and the tailor time to make adjustments if anything goes wrong or you decide you need add't alterations/repairs to the dress. Good luck with your wedding plans!
