prices for just photographer (no videographer)
We have a videographer who will do our wedding for next to nothing and he has a 'friend' who would photograph for dirt cheap, but we're a little nervous to go with that guy b/c he's never done American weddings, not to mention the fact that this is an Irish-Italian-Jewish wedding! If we decide to play it safe, how much would it cost to go with just a photographer?

Were paying $1500+ but getting alot of stuff plus an assistant. But, we did visit 6 or 7 vendors. If you do a search on here you could probably find out detailed info. We went to ADA, Vivid Images, Vivid, Marco, Patkan and Precious Memories.

It's hard to say what photography costs...it kinda depends on how many pictures and what kind of album you want. We went with Patken and are paying around 2200

Re: prices for just photographer (no videographer)
Photography price seem to vary a lot. We're paying over $5000 but that's including 3 parent albums and an additional photographer. There's a place, Silverfox, where you can add options a la carte so you can control the price. My personal opinion is that your wedding photos are much too important to take a chance on and it sounds like you're a little hesitant to use this guy. Even if just to compare his work with someone else, it can't hurt to make a few photo appointments just to see what's out there. Hope this helps!

They can vary, but most I have visited have been at least $2000 & can go up over $5000. You could get a decent package w/ all the normal albums, prints & proofs & be in the $2000-$3000 range. This of course is without video. I am using Patken & they are very reasonable. As a previous poster mentioned, you can do searches on this site & see the various photographers.

Re: prices for just photographer (no videographer)
Thanks guys. I'm also thinking about getting some packages from established photographers and bringing those options to this guy. He said he'd do whatever we wanted, but he just didn't have a package to go buy. So if I could find some sort of list of all the basic picture needs, I might try that. I've heard so many horror stories about people paying thousands and thousands for photography and then being screwed in the end. I'm tryna keep the cost down and the risk the same ;)Welcome New Vendors
