Funny, but scary, story to share.

Just had to share as a little warning to all pet owners. The day before NYE I woke up and saw my cat Ravi eating in te kitchen. As he stood up I saw someting hanging out of his butt. Silly thing ate Christmas ribbon and he must have pooped but it didn't come out. (It was hanging about 4 inches out). I freaked because I now it can strangulate the intestines. I know this from watching one too many episodes of Emergency Vet on Animal Planet - hee hee.

Well, an emergency vet visit into the city and $250 later, my crazy cat pooped it out at 12:30 at night. I had to lock him in a room and watch him for 12 hours to make sure he didn't get sick.

Lucky for us it was not wrapped around his intestines because it can tear them and cause pockets which can lead to septicemia (toxic blood). What kills me is that I know better. I am always careful not to leave it where the cats can get it. But I guess he somehow found a piece. Next year I am banning all ribbon.

I should have taken a picture, looking back it was quite funny to see. He is an orange tabby and the ribbon was a gold color, it sort of matched him. He looked like a party streemer.

Animals are really like kids - never a dull moment!!!
