Random Planning Tip of the Day!
Use a ballpoint pen (one that no longer works if you don't want to mark up your pages) to score magazine pages before ripping them out so you can avoid jagged edges!Anyone feel free to add anything you want!

Also, don't let people get you down. we heard 'oh, you have soo much time' and my personal fav'2006 - thats so far away.' well now its not, its next year and we did it because that is what worked best for us. Just enjoy being engaged and have fun with the planning.

Re: Random Planning Tip of the Day!
This is my tip for today 1/7:With so many reception locatons out there choosing one can seem like a daunting task. Narrowing to down is easy with 3 great tools.
1) a pen and paper, write down the characteristics you want, that will help a LOT
Such as (i'll use my criteria)
location: we decided on queens, brooklyn, nassau or western suffolk)
price: it had to be under $120
size: it had to hold 200 people (in case everyone we're inviting shows up!!)
looks: it had to have an old world feel
other: I prefer one wedding at a time.
Now comes
Tool #2: Wedding Sites and Services magazine. It's about $6. They also have a website, but I like to hold things in my hand. Take the pen form earlier and go page by page crossing out locations that don't suit your needs. Cross off anything too far away, too expensive, too many weddings at a time, or if the look of the place doens't appeal to you. That will narrow it down SO quickly.
Finally, Tool #3: LIW/NYCW OF COURSE! Come online and read reviews from the hall you're interested in and scope out the photos. Also look at the list of halls here to see if there are any you missed that weren't in the magazines. Find the 'official thread' for the halls you like. After looking at the pics and reading the reviews you should definitely have a short list, then make your phone calls and set up some appointments! Get ready for the grand tour, free glasses of wine and to fall in love with the reception location of your dreams!
