Italian Brides who are having an E-party or already had one

I'm having an e-party in May, I've only had four cousins who've had e-party's and I was told that it's tradition to wear green. Is this true? Did you stick to this? Wearing green isn't a big deal to me, but I'd want the option to look at all colors also. Thanks.

Green does mean good luck in the Italian tradition. I did not wear green. My favors had green ribbon on it. but You do have to have some green or you will never hear the end of it lol .

another friend of mine had did her centerpieces green ballons ..

as long as you have green somewhere in the e-party you will be fine, and you wont hear any complaints lol

Thanks. If I don't incorporate some green, forget it-lol- I don't even want to know. My mother the other day mentioned putting green ribbon on the favors. I'm also thinking about doing green/white personalized M&M's in a tin can placed in a GREEN tiny organza sack. Maybe I'll stick a green bow on my dress if worse comes to worse.
As far as wearing green, I'll do it if I find something that looks good- if not then I got enough green going around to substitute for it. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Italian Brides who are having an E-party or already had one

I did wear a green dress for my engagement party. It so happened that I found a green dress that I fell in love with, not because I believed in bad luck. You should maybe think about added it to the bows on your favors. I think it looks very pretty.

Re: Italian Brides who are having an E-party or already had one

huh? ummm....I've NEVER heard of that. I wore a pink skirt with floral print, white top, with darker pink sweater to my e-party.

DH's cousin's wife (VERY ITALIAN girl) wore black pants with a red top to her e-party.

Re: Italian Brides who are having an E-party or already had one

I wonder, is this tradition a Sicilian thing? It's been done in my family. I'm going to ask my mother how it originated tonight. As for my e-party, I will definitely use green ribbon/bows and do the personalized M&M's in green and white. I may also put some green in the centerpiece. I may do that 'perfect pair' candle thing (hey, it's green, lol- thank-god pears are green).

Re: Italian Brides who are having an E-party or already had one

Wow.

I've never heard of this - I'll have to ask my FMIL.

But the funniest thing is that I am planning it now...and IT'S ALL GREEN!!!!!!!

Our colors for the wedding are green, gold and plum... so I am doing green/gold tablecloths and tonight I bought all gold and green paperware. Even the beer cups are green!

I'm also doing 'perfect pair' as the theme (tho the invites i sent out didn't include that cause i didn't think of it then)....but the tags are green...

Soooo, I hope someone at the party knows that this is for good luck so they think I did it on purpose!!!!!

:)

Wow, that is funny Lisa. You know I was thinking about doing the perfect pair w/ pears-hence the GREEN...LOL. Ask you FMIL and see whether she has heard of this. I asked my mom and she said that it means good luck and all for the future. She said it was an old tradition and that some people do it and others don't. But, for every e-party that I've been to green has always been incorporated in some way. To be honest w/ you, I have never owned a green dress before, so I hardly doubt I'm going to buy a green dress- I'll just accessorize my surroundings green. Where are you going to buy your engagement dress? I know I want a tea length dress, but that's about it. Watch, I'll proabably end up w/ a green dress..lol
