Serious lack of sex drive :(

I am an active member on the site, but my mom occasionally logs on and I didn't want her reading this.

For the last couple of years I have had little or no sex drive. Nothing is wrong our relationship is fine, but don't have that the desire. I never think about it, and when we do have sex I'm just kind of there. It really hurts my husband, and I'm getting sick and tired of it too. It's not that I don't want to have sex with him, but I have no interest in an sexual anything.

I have been on the pill for 10 years, and have read that it may have some thing to do with this, so I changed to the lowest dose about a year ago and still nothing.

Has anyone one experienced this or have any suggestions.

why don't you check out some books on the subject? amazon.com should have some great suggestions! i remember Oprah had a show on this topic a while ago and that they said that it is so common among women. hearing that probably doesn't make 't make it any easier for you and DH. you may also want to speak with your doctor. you should explore what options you have to improve this for your self and your relationship!

I hear alot of women go through low sex drive bouts while on the pill. I would try a completely different brand of pill first, then if that doesn't help, try going off the pill entirely (using another method of BC, of course) and see how your body reacts to that.

im not a doctor but i can almost guarantee it is from the pill. my sister and I were talking about this- we were both on the pill for years... and we both complained of low sex drives. we both went off it for awhile and it really did make a difference!!!!!

I agree...I was on the pill for a few years and when I went off my drive went noticeably up!

Yup--definitely the pill!!!! I recently went off Depo (after 5 years) and tried three different pills before my 'drive' was at a 'normal' level. I had the same issues with the first two pills and talked with my gyno. I'm now on Lo-Estrin and things are much better in the sex drive department. Even if you've been on it for years---our bodies change and hormones change over the years and you're probably going through a hormonal change in conjunction with the pill that is causing the 'problem.' Talk with your gyno---and good luck (and tell FH that it's ALL the pill's fault ----out of your control!!!)

Like the others have said...talk to your doctor. I was on NuvaRing and it KILLED my drive. I went back to the OrthroEvra patch and its back to normal.

i have the exact same problem. i've been on the pill for almost 8 years. about two years ago, i switched to ortho-tri lo. it hasn't helped AT ALL. i'm going back to my gyno soon and will ask what else can i do. i hate feeling this way and really want to change it.

I have a pretty crappy sex drive too.. once we get into it- i'm really into it..l but it is the getting into it that is hard..

I'm going to bring it up to my doc when I go next month.

It could be the pill, but no one has asked if you take any other meds that might affect it.
Also, how long have you been married? I know a lot of people (myself included) have agreed that our sex drives dropped during the stress of wedding planning. Maybe you are still in that stage of stress. Has there been any other stress in your life? Job stress? Family illness or death?

Thanks, I've always thought it was the pill and changed it, but it didn't do much. I think I may go to a new gyn to get another opinion to see if there are other things that I could do.

I don't take any other medication, so that's not it. And we've been married for only a few months, but this has definately been going on before we got married.

I've read a bunch of stuff online, and found something called HSDD (Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder), kind of sounds like it but I'm not going to self-diagnosis.

Its just such a crappy feeling that I want to fix.

I would 2nd the pill opnion (although stress can do it too). I was on ortho cyclen for a while and was fine, then my gyn switched me to ovcon 35 and seriously, even kissing wasn't something i wanted to do. I knew it was the pill because of the timing - so i switched to something now and now I'm fine. Its a horrible feeling - def talk to your doctor (a new one, even) and they should be able to help.

Very funny that this topic is up here because today Iam going to GYN because of this problem!! I will keep u posted on what she says!!

i just got off the pill last month for the same reason. I was on it for 10 years, and i was so rarely in the mood..I can feel a little bit of a difference now, but not huge.
I think a lot has to do with your everyday stress too.. ..i hope

I told her and she just said that it is really common in young woman who have been on the pill for a long time!! That was it!!

Nothing else really to it! SO we will see
