dumb question re: dress

My wedding is in 2007 and I haven't even thought much about a dress yet.

Please excuse my naivite here, but has anyone been to the David's Bridal $99 sale? It sounds way too good to be true. I know that I would have to find a seamstress to do any alterations, but anyone have any feedback? Did anyone look? Was anything worth a trip? Also, I'm big in the chest area, I'll probably need a 14 or 16 wedding dress. Would they even have that at the $99 sale?

Thanks in advance ladies, I have no clue about any of this wedding stuff! The last wedding I was at was YEARS ago!

Re: dumb question re: dress

Thanks for the response... anyone actually been there? See the type of dresses? I'm not sure where the closest one is, I guess I'll search the website. I'm in Smithtown.

Re: dumb question re: dress

My FSIL bought her dress at David's and loves themn and raves about them. SHe got a deal too. And they do carry 14 & 16 at the $99 sale. Her BM's and Mom bought their dress there too, I also think it's hit or miss. But I swear, if you speak to my FSIL yu'd think she works for David's. She went to the one in LIC.

Good luck! It definitely can't hurt to look.

Re: dumb question re: dress

My BM's got their dresses at Davids.
We had no real problems. They had a very nice wedding gown selection-but I ended up going to another store for my own dress.
The only thing I would say to you is to wait a bit. They run those sales all the time. When you buy a dress at David's you have to take it home with you. And if you're not getting married until 2007-well, IMO that's a long time to try to store your dress.

Re: dumb question re: dress

I went to the David's $99 sale--IMO there was VERY little selection. But, The Wedding Center in Commack sells all of their sample dresses--many new and never tried--for $99, in all sizes. Link . There was a huge selection of all types. Good luck!

Re: dumb question re: dress

I haven't been there but I did buy that Bridal Bargains book which has a lot of negative things to say about their dresses(their quality) - so not sure but something to think about

Re: dumb question re: dress

I'm one of the brides that had a great Davids Bridal experience (I went to the one in Woodside). However, I spent a lot more than $99. In fact the dress I got at DB was more $ than my favorites from the other boutiques I went to. There aren't many dresses to choose from that were $99. They do carry all sizes, but most bridal boutiques do also. Your best bet is to shop around and see what dress you really love and go with that - whether its at DB or not.

Re: dumb question re: dress

I just bought my dress there and I must say I had a good experience. I went to the Glen Cove store, which I've heard had some bad reviews. It's true, it's pretty much hit or miss. If you go to that location, ask for Marie, she was wonderful! As far as the $99 sale, there's very little to chose from, but they do offer up to $200.00 off on their regular priced gowns as well as discounts on the accessories. They always have these sales. I would wait until you're wedding date is closer. I'm getting married this June and just bought my dress!

Good Luck!
