honeymoon ideas-help

Hello, I am getting married 11/17/01(sat) and I think we want to take a cruise. I know I want a nice sized room maybe even a balcony and I would like a cruise ship that is geared towards couples and not really families. Does anyone know of a cruise line we should try or about the cost? Any info or experiences are greatly appreciated.

Hi Ayanna;

I heard Holland America is an older crowd. Royal Carribean and Celebrity are nice although the rooms on R.C. are on the small side. Carnival, nice too. Try going to some of the cruiseline websites. You can email them your questions. I have found that they are usually very helpful and forthcoming, especially with telling you the type of crowd that typically books. Plus a good travel agent should know as well.

You should try to generally decide where you want to go first, then look at the different cruiselines. Carribean, Europe, South America, Hawaii, Tahiti, Canada are just a few. RE: price - try to book early because you really get a deep discount when you book early. We booked a cruise for next summer and it is about 1/3 off the later booking price. The verandas are nice so the discount can help you make those rooms more affordable. You can hold it with a minimal deposit. But take the insurance, it is worth it, God forbid you need to cancel.

We are going on Windstar in the Mediterranean. I think they do the Caribbean in November. We have heard that the ship is fairly small, only 150 passengers, and almost all couples. I've been told that because of it's small size, everyone kind of gets to know everyone. The atmosphere is very casual--no tuxedo nights, etc. which for us was important. There are no balconies in any of the rooms but the rooms are a pretty decent size. Our travel agent has been very helpful in narrowing down our choices. If you have an idea of where you want to go, it will be much easier to determine which cruise line is better for you. You can email me at [email protected] if you want the name of our travel agent who has been great.
