NWR but how come everyone seems afraid to post something bad about a vendor?
It seems like they usually prefer FM for any bad reviews. Was there some kind of drama in the past or did someone get in trouble for saying something bad?
Just curious as to whether I can only post good reviews.
Thanks!

It could be consiered libelous or something. But it's god ayway, because certain situations are specific to that couple only and badmouthing a company for certain things may not be appropriate, given the circumstances.

Re: NWR but how come everyone seems afraid to post something bad about a vendor?
I was actually wondering if it could be libel that was the reason! My attorney side will come out a little, although this is not legal advice to anyone... Just a note though, if someone states an OPINION that is not really libel..>>Not that you want to go around defending yourself in a lawsuit, even if you will win in the end. LOL
I guess it's best to avoid it.

When bad reviews are posted, no matter how factual and fair they are, they are usually removed immediately.

Your on the right track with this. But from what I've seen happen here, there are a few reasons why a post might get pulled. If the post has a heading of 'buyer beware or dont go here' they will pull it. Also if its a newbie
bashing a vendor they might pull it also. But for the most part, there are other girls here that might be using that particular vendor and might take offense to vendor bashing. Usually if stated as an opinion, its all good.

Re: NWR but how come everyone seems afraid to post something bad about a vendor?
well, there have been A LOT of brides who got banned for writing negatives things. Also, things have to be phrased very carefully. Any kind of 'Do NOT USE so and so' gets removed right away.
But, saying 'I USED XYZ and I am not satisfied' usually stays. It also depends on if the company is a partron of this site.
I'm from NJ, so I've written some strong worded reviews about NJ vendors, but no one here even knew who they were, so the reviews stayed.

Yeah...that's something that really upsets me. I love this site, I love the fact that it exists and I love the girls here and the exchange of information...but vendors have many more rights than we do...our info is sold to them when we join (I wasn't aware of this, until someone told me, hence my removing my info) and any bad comments about a vendor gets removed immediately if it's an LIW vendor...kind of unfair because raves stay on just the same, it's the rants that cause the beefs.
FM is the only way!

I'm not afraid to post anything engative. I actually posted a long really honest thing about my meeting with an LIW vendor and it didn't post b/c of the connection or something. That having bene said, you CAn say something negative as long as you temper it and don't say 'don't use this vendor, they are the worst,' etc, but if you give both pros and cons it stays or if you just say why you were unsatisfied, but don't be surprised if you get an FM from that vendor. They DEFINITELY read the boards and they know a LOT more about what goes on here than you think.

Re: NWR but how come everyone seems afraid to post something bad about a vendor?
Yeah, I figured the info was sold when I started getting tons of junk mail & SPAM. And not just from recommended vendors from the halls we checked out.It does suck that ANYTHING negative is pulled (albeit after some people get to read it at least). However, if I was an LIW vendor and giving LIW tons of money, freebies and such to sponsor the site, I'd want negative reviews pulled too. I'm not sure of the process involved to become and LIW vendor but there must be some fees involved since there is tons of advertising on the site. That can't be free. Not to mention some of the prizes (waiting on my t-shirt) like diamond earrings, free composed song, and other free services.
As for negative reviews being libelous, that is not the case if it's a true account of what happened. Truth is the best defense against libel. However, it's not always easy to prove the truth in court. Keep accurate records, get copies of everything & GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING with initials of the vendors by any changes to the contract!

Re: NWR but how come everyone seems afraid to post something bad about a vendor?
I posted a very negative review of my wedding florist and it was never removed or altered. I think if something extreme is said without any information backing it up, the admins are going to remove it to protect themselves. Ive seen a lot of brides post very emotional reactions...which I can understand b/c I felt the same way...but in their anger go beyond just giving a bad review. But in my case, I was unhappy with my florist for several reasons which I explained and left it at that. As long as the information is stated in a factual manner, I don't think the admins would remove it. At least, thats how it seems based on what I've seen.Welcome New Vendors
