Tiara and Veil Question: WHAT type of veil would look good with this dress (pictures added at the bottom). PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEE
So I said I would and I did. I drove through the snow (more than 2 feet in CHicago) and I went to try on veils and tiaras!!
Now I need advice.
(Please read like 5 posters down. I decided to get the tiara, but now I need advice on what type of veil. See my replies below with the picture of the dress).
Anyways, Paul (the guy I was working with) said that he could do a two-tier cathedral length veil with scattered rhinestones (double-sided) and the tiara for $225 ( I got him to drop $25) plus tax. He was trying to charge me $125 for the veil and $125 for the tiara. Do you think this is a good price? I think it's really good for the veil (bridal illusion) but for a tiara that seems high. I guess it's because I saw the tiara's on Ebay. Have anyone seen anything like this for less $$. I really really like it. I think I might just go with him. I need to look again to see if there's anything I like.
For the silk he said it would be more expensive and he showed me silk swatch (I think it was similar to a Hansson silk) because it was very limp. He did say to be weary of people in the US that try to sell the silk veils because he said most of the better silk comes from the UK.
I'm really happy I went in because he was able to match the veil to my dress. I brought a swatch with me there. My dress is called 'off-white' by the designer and when we were looking at the veils the light ivory (eggshell) one seemed to fit best. The diamond white one (which I would have thought would have worked) was too bright and the ivory was too dark.
Okay, I attached 2 pictures of the tiara I tried on. And the last two pictures are pictures of the tiara that I showed him that I liked (but I didn't want the gold). This was my inspiration tiara. I really really like the tiara I tried on there.

Re: Tiara and Veil Question:
Okay, I just got off the phone with my mom. She thinks its a great price. She said she was expecting to pay $500 for a veil (that's because the veil I tried on from my dress's designer is like $800). Oh, we were talking about getting the bottom embroidered with the design from the dress, but I'm scared that might be overdoing it. I don't want to post a pic of the dress because FH sometimes comes on here, but if you want to see it so you can help me out, please (pretty please) FM me and I'll FM you back a pic.I think I'm going to go for it!!

Re: Tiara and Veil Question: WHAT type of veil would look good with this dress (pictures added at the bottom). PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEE
Okay, here's a picture of the dress. My cathedral veil is going to be 3.5 yds (126 inches) and then I have the blusher (34 inches). Anyways, do you think embroidery/beading at the very end of the cathedral veil would look okay? The design would match the detail on the back of the dress. I was originally thinking about a two-tier scattered rhinestone veil, but now I'm wondering if I should get the vei embroidered? Would that and the rhinestones be too much? Should I just do the rhinestones on the blusher veil (that's going to turn into my regular veil once I remove the cathedral) and do the embroidery on the cathedral veil??
Okay: I can't leave the pictures up too long because of FH but I really need help!!!
PS: that was the sample dress. I know it tight around my luscious booty.

Personally, I think a single layered cathedral length veil would be best. But then that would leave you veil-less for the reception if that's ok with you.

If you are happy with it and your Mom is too, I say go for it. It sounds like a pretty good deal.

I say go for both. In the grand scheme of things $200 is nothing compared to what you're spending on the whole day.

True, true. I decided to go for the tiara and the veil, but now I'm not sure what type of veil I should get. Should I get the bottom embroidered?

I think plain veil wouldbe better for this dress.. The bottom i so unique and I think embrodiery would take away from it.

Re: Tiara and Veil Question: WHAT type of veil would look good with this dress (pictures added at the bottom). PLEASE HELP MEEEEEEE
Thanks everyone. I fell in love with the back of the dress. Now, I just need to loose the extra 10 pounds that I gained since I was measured and my belly.I really want a blusher, so I'm definetly going to get a two tier veil. I always pictured my fiance lifting the veil for that first nuptial kiss.
So if I get the embroidery, should I not get the rhinestones on the cathedral veil? Or should I only put the rhinestones on the blusher veil?
I think I might need to go back and try on more veils, but gosh I don't feel like driving 50 minutes again.

Ok- after seeing pics of your dress(absolutely beautiful btw) since you are doing two layers I would keep it very simple so not to take away from that dress. I was thinking just scattered rhinestones on the bottom of the cathedral length veil and nothing on the blusher.I hope that helps.
