love that bakery! it is in my town and we always get stuff from there. I think there have been other posts about this bakery in the past as well, if you want to try to do a search for it.

Chateau La mer Brides, my expeience at Black forest Bakery
So I called a week ago and made an appointment there thinking that that meant that we would be helped in our decision, and maybe sample some cakes, work together to come up with something that we wanted... WRONG. The woman gave me 8 pictures to look at, and then hlped other customers, all of the pictures were of your basic plain cakes with flowers being the most creative decoration. After ten minutes she calls us over and says 'OK what do you like' so i said none of these I would like fairly plain cake with shells on it, to which she immediately responded '$75 extra.' She as like what icing, and i asked her to explain what types there were she now looked at me like i was a moron, sorry ive never gotten a wedding cake before! And she says whipped cream or butter cream, i asked fondant and again she immediaely snaps back and says '$150 extra.' - Now im thinking she thimks im poor and stupid! At this point i was pretty annoyed with her attitude and how unhelpfull she was. SO i replied CLM has anoher bakery i can choose rom maybe they offer shells standard, and then another lady there starts bashing them and says theyre 'Brand X.' So needless to say we left...
Stopped in at the other smaller less known mom & pop type bakery Villa Bella, with no appointment, and the baker/owner was this sweet italian man, he shows me a book with some really nicer style cakes, I ask him about the shells he says 'hey no problem' whatever you want. tells me to find a picture and we'll figure it out, he also offered fondant without the extra charge, he said (in an italian accent) 'hey i work it out with Chateau la mer no problem.' So i dont care if Black forest is the better known bakery due to theyre service i am gladly going to go to Villa Bella!!!
My advice when you go cake 'shopping' bring pics of what you want because the odds are that the bakery wont have the picture of what you would like. I ound some and will be going back to Villa Bella

Re: Black Forest Bakery
It's really interesting to read Nessa's review after going through the whole cake process. When I first went to Black Forest, I met with that woman, who I totally agree, was very difficult to deal with and basically didn't want to expend any energy helping you. She also showed us like 5 pictures and that was it. I already new what cake I wanted and I felt like I was getting nowhere, so I left really disappointed. I went to Villa Bella and had a lot of problems with them. For 3 weeks I tried to get a quote and they 'didn't know yet.' I went down when she told me to come and there was no baker to speak to and the woman's English is very hard to understand. The cake was too expensive to get done by an outside bakery. So I reluctantly made another appointment to go back to Black Forest. I actually met with Tommy the baker this time and had totally different, wonderful experience. We'll see how my cake comes out in 2 weeks! I strongly suggest you bring pictures of what you want and that you say you specifically want to meet with Tommy--it will make a difference!
