Just found this idea for a bridal shower....Fun & Different!
I know many of you have registries...but for those who are not living with your FH first...this is awesome! Especially for those on a budget or doing smaller weddings. Also works for the "wishing well"......
Wonderful Wedding Shower
One of the most interesting wedding showers I attended was for a young couple just getting started. Both were setting up a home for the first time. We were invited to attend a "pantry shower" and were instructed to bring pantry staples that related to our initials.
For example, if your initials were JCP, you could bring jelly, Campbell's soup, and paprika. If your initials were HMV, then the items could be Hershey's chocolate, mustard, and vinegar.
Rather than food items, some guests brought sponges, household cleaners, and even a broom and mop.
We brought the gifts anonymously, and the bride had to guess who brought the items. She ended up with a good supply of pantry and staple items (which can be expensive to purchase all at once on your own), plus the guests were not expected to spend a large amount of money.
The hostess gift was a cookie jar with several cookie recipes, along with flour, sugar, shortening, salt, baking soda, etc. We all had a fun time, trying to guess who brought the items.
