Need a last minute videographer who can do a simple video or just raw footage. Suggestions?

We were not planning on having a video done of our wedding (and after a lot of deliberation, thought we were fine with that!), but last night my mother threw a fit insisting that I will regret it if I don’t have one and literally brought up every one of my original concerns about not having one. I just wish she would have opened her mouth a few months ago! Anyway, our wedding is just over 2 months away and my photographer’s video people (Duet) are already booked. We really want a SIMPLE video, would be fine with just raw footage, as a whole 'wedding story' style edited video with music, photo montages, etc. is not our style. And since we never budgeted for this… we need to keep costs way down.

The most important thing to me is that the videographer be unobtrusive and capture the wedding without being a nuisance to me, my FI or my guests (no focusing on only the bride or wedding party, no trailing me the whole time, we don't need guest interviews). I really just want someone who will sit back and catch the stuff that my FI and I will miss seeing, who won't break the bank.

Any suggestions of who I can contact? Has anyone had a simpler video like this or just raw footage done? What can I expect to pay? I did post on the Vendors site, but thought I would ask here too. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am kinda nervous now. THANKS!!!

this might sound crazy, but look on craigs list, there are usually vendors on there.

I was going to say the same thing. Post an ad on craigslist asking for exactly what you need. you will be AMAZED at how many responces you will get. Then you have your pick based on work & prices

I think LCA does that for like 1000 even.

For 1250 you can get a bit more from Timeless Treasures.

I also think Skylight does something like that for cheap. I bet you'll get some good quotes on the Vendor page...but Craig's list definitely might prove a good spot.

Doesn't 5 Towns College (does it still exisit?) have a video program? maybe you can see if they have a student who can do it!

FI is going to search and post on Craig's List tonight. (I keep telling him we need to deal with this NOW, but he then reminds me that we both stop doing work at our jobs we will have an even bigger problem )

hello my fiance and i are also looking for a videographer to do raw footage (ceremony only) and need to keep costs down. did anyone find out anything about 5 towns college/craigs list? i'd like to know if that was fruitful- my wedding is a few more months away but we're feeling the tightness of our budget!

Hi! After doing a ton of research (mostly based on the recommendations I got from LIW brides), we decided to go with a professional videographer who was willing to tape the ceremony and wedding and give us the raw footage for about $500. We didn't look into local film schools, but contacted some other 'amateurs' looking to break into wedding video and they weren't charging any less then this guy... so, we figured we would go for someone with experience.
