Reception Hall Information With Prices

Hey everyone, my FH and I recently visited a bunch of reception places so I thought I’d share for those who are looking. We were looking for a date before November 2005. Our minimum guarantee was 125. All prices are before tax and gratuity. Hope this helps!

Here goes:

Glen Island Harbor Club: Love the ceremony room! We’re getting married here! The CH room has doors that open onto a terrace overlooking the water. Reception room chairs are nice and don’t need to be covered. Carpet is not obnoxiously loud (chairs and carpet are my two pet peeves). You have to use one of the two house florists. I get the sense that GI books very quickly. They do not take credit cards even for the deposit.
$150/pp Saturday. No availability.
$110/pp Sunday. Very few dates.
$750 ceremony fee

Crescent Beach Club: Beautiful space. We actually left a deposit here but ultimately decided to go with GI since it is so much more convenient for everyone. Love the reception room with the terraces. The ceremony is held on the beach—they put decking down. One wedding at a time.
$175/pp Saturday
$140/Sunday
$1000 ceremony fee

Liberty House at Liberty State Park in NJ: Beautiful space. I really loved this place, but they had VERY limited availability (most Saturdays in 2006 are booked). The upstairs room is great, with slate floors. The whole place has amazing views of the Manhattan skyline and is right on the water. FH and I live in northern NJ, but my family is in Queens so that was another factor. But this is literally 10 minutes outside the Lincoln Tunnel.
$170/pp Saturday
$140/pp Sunday

Carltun on the Sound: One wedding at a time. Valets/parking attendants are not included (extra). They seemed to have lots of dates left in 2005.
$100/Friday
$125/Saturday
$90/pp Sunday

Woodbury CC: Lovely gardens. I could envision myself getting married on the wooden platform gazebo area, but can’t deal with the stress of worrying about weather. Also, I was worried about looking out the windows and possibly seeing another wedding going on (unlikely, but I’m paranoid). Seemed like you got a lot for your money.
$65/pp Sunday, including Vienesse
$90/pp Saturday w/o Vienesse
$500 ceremony fee, which the BM said he would just throw in.

Château Briand: Saturnia Room (I think)
$92/pp Saturday
$80/pp Sunday
Chapel is really small with low ceilings and can only seat approx. 160. They convert another room (half of Normandy?) for ceremonies too.

Jericho Terrace: Skylight Room. Rob the sales manager seems great to work with. Carpet will be replaced by end of February.
$80/pp Sunday (140 person guarantee)
$92/pp Sunday for chair covers, mini Vienesse, and modified seafood boat at CH

Westbury Manor: Nice grounds for CH. Smaller room seems really small for 125, but larger room needs guarantee of 160 (I think).
$78/pp Friday
$108/pp Saturday
$75/pp Sunday
$50/pp other weeknight

Fox Hollow: Sorry, I don’t remember more.
$90/pp Friday (smaller room)

But wait! There's more!

Crest Hollow CC: Emerald Room (will be renovated in early March, I believe)
$70/pp Sunday with mini Vienesse
Outdoor ceremony area by the gazebo is very pretty.

Terrace on the Park: no valet parking, it's all self-park. They have yummy mints in the offices.
They have a recently created outdoor CH/ceremony area, sort of like a fancy deck on the ground level. The chapel has blue chairs like in a movie theater, but they will also let you have the ceremony in one of the smaller rooms. $80/pp Friday
$110/pp Saturday
$90/pp Sunday

Leonard's: Nice floors. All the rooms (except one, I think) were redone with marble floors. No carpet!
$61/pp Thursday
$69/Sunday

Chart House in Weehawken, NJ: Amazing views of Manhattan and right on the water. Especially nice place if you’re you’re not having ceremony there. No real bridal suite, but they will let you use a little office they have. The price per person is totally dependent on what you pick for the menu. For example, the filet mignon is $22/pp, the open bar is $36/pp (different for top/middle/house shelf), cesaer salad is $7/pp. On Saturday, they want at $20,000 guarantee, on Sunday it is $10,000.

Re: Reception Hall Information With Prices

I just couldn't handle the stress of worrying about the weather on top of everything else. I wasn't sure how I would like the ceremony indoors.

I can't remember the name of the BM we talked to, but it wasn't Peter. Harry! That's it!

Woodbury CC seemed very negotiable on price--just ask to have a $500 discount and see what they say. Can't hurt to ask, especially before you sign the contract!

I just wanted to poke my nose in and say that if you have the Mills Room (upstairs) at the WCC, you dont have to really worry too much about the weather for the CH because it is inside.

Re: Reception Hall Information With Prices

Wow--we Glen Island brides really think alike! Chairs and carpet were a huge issue for us as well and we're actually covering the GIHC chairs even though they're really in perfect condition because FH has a thing about "gold" chairs. We also had the very same concerns about WCC.

Are you planning from Long Island or Westchester? We're also having our ceremony at GIHC so trying to coordinate the rehearsal and the non-rehearsal dinner have been interesting Good luck!

We met with Harry too. If we decide to go with WCC I
will definitely negotiate with them. Thanks again for the
info. and congratulations on booking a place.
