our tax guy is going to check both ways and see which gives us the most money back...and that is the one we are choosing

Married filing seperately is almost never fruitful. But some people like to do it for various reasons.

We had our accountant do our taxes both ways and it actually came out better for us to file separately. He did say usually joint filing gives you a better return.
