Home Depot kitchens
We have an appt. tomorrow to meet with someone at Home Depot about new cabinets, counters, floor. I am a little hesitant to go with them. I want to see what the 'scoop' is though. Has anyone used them? If not, could you recommend someone? Thanks

Re: Home Depot kitchens
I personally cant stand home depot. We are going to use Consumers for our cabinets. So if you are not happy with the service there I would try them.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
We used Lowe's for our Kitchen. We measured our space in the kitchen and figured out where we wanted everything. They guy came to our house and re-measured and then helped us out with picking out cabinets. Then my DH and father and a friend put the cabinets in.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
We're in the process of getting ours done by home depot, but we live in California so i don't know if it's the same in NY. Everything has been going ok, so far.My DH and neighbor are going to demolish the kitchen. The cabinets arrived on time.
The only thing i don't like is that they won't install our appliances, we got them from sears not home depot. But sears will come back and do it so it's not a big deal.
My only complaint so far is that it cost more total than the woman had originally estimated but i think that's pretty normal.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
We just bought a house and it has a brand new kitchen and the homeowner told me he got the cabinets from home depot. The cabinets are great, easy to clean etc. But I dont know who installed them everytime i clean I find another screw comming out of the wood somewhere. The kitchen counter was screwed into the cabinets adn they missed and they are sticking out of the wood and inside a couple of cabinets there are screws comming out.Like I said I am not sure if Homedepot installed them or if they had someone else do it just make sure you inspect everything before they finish and accept nothing less then perfect.

Its in Hoboken. Its open so the island separates the kitchen and dining room.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
I have a friend of a friend who used Home Depot, and their kitchen came out amazing. We used Consumers, and had nothing but problems with that store...our kitchen looks great, the product, great...but the people who we used from Consumers, aweful!
We designed the kitchen, placed the order with someone at Consumers...I followed up to be sure the cabinets were coming in 12 weeks...13 weeks go by, no cabinets..guess what, they were never ordered!
So we had to wait another 13 weeks to get our cabinets, and then we ended up with wrong items...it was one nightmare after the next...and you can never get through to anyone you need to speak with.
At least this was our experience.
Meanwhile, my aunt used Consumers for her kitchen, and she had no problems, everything in on time, no difficulties.
Go figure.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
My in laws just renovated their entire kitchen a few months ago and used Home Depot - while the overall result was very nice - they did have a few complaints about the customer service and the ridiculous amount of time it seemed to take to install simple things like a countertop..... I don't think they hated it, but they wouldn't use them again.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
we just went through HD for our kitchen. Honestly, they have been a pleasure to work with. We are going to install ourselves so I can't comment on that but everything else has been easy and hassle free.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
We originally looked at HD, and I wasn't too impressed. Also, I'm an attorney, and I represented a client who sued HD over defective countertops, so I was less inclined to use them. We ended up getting our kitchen from Ikea, and installed it ourselves. We absolutely LOVE it. No problems so far!

Thanks!! We love it. And, because it was Ikea (cheap) and we installed it ourselves (even cheaper) we saved soooooooo much money on it. We COMPLETELY gutted our kitchen down to everything, and rebuilt the entire thing, for just about $5k.

Re: Home Depot kitchens
We had our kitchen cabinets purchased from Home Depot and the woman we worked with there was great and very thorough! The cabinets are gorgeous and we had one small issue that they took care of immediately. We also had our countertop purchased thru them and it's perfect also.Welcome New Vendors
