i'm going to a first birthday next week. the child has everything and more...
so...we are giving her a savings bond and MAYBE a SMALL toy.

a savings bond is a good idea. I started a collection of 'precious moments' pieces for my niece. every year/holiday, I buy her figurines from the set.

my aunt did this for me...i wish she would have put that money towards my wedding fund all these years.

How about this growth chart. I just bought one (the boy one) for my nephew and they loved it!!! We remember my dad always marking up the walls, this is a better way to do it.
