Re: Any *older* brides on here TTC?
I am 33, newly married and beginning the home buying process. I am also in a new position at work, so we will probably wait till at least the end of this year (and that's being very optimistic).
I am hoping to have twins and just get the spawning part over with.

Re: Any *older* brides on here TTC?
I'm 35 (still in shock over that) and DH is 31.... if he doesn't start soon, I'm poking holes!
Na... j/k... he wanted to wait, so we waited a year. Now, it's a year and 1/2 and we're ready to start trying soon. I'm sure everything will be fine if you have a clean bill of health from the Dr. Definitely start taking the prenatals though, even if it's the GNC brand (or, just the folic acid + a vitamin)
Best of luck to you guys!!! and congratulations on your wedding

I want to thank all of you for your very encouraging responses.
I am 40 and will be 41 by the time we get married. DH is 42. We gotta hurry!
I'm sure you have already planned ahead. But, if you are hoping to start right away. Why don't you stop taking the pill (if you are) and start taking pre-natal vitamins. If you start now your body will be "officially" ready to start trying. Best of luck!!!
Fortunately, I'm not on the pill. I was never one to use it often during my life and have always just used condoms and spermicides. Are pre-natal vitamins something you can get over the counter or are they things that only come prescription strength? For a while I was taking 1mg of folic acid and I needed a prescrip for that, even though it's just a vitamin.

Re: Any *older* brides on here TTC?
Im 34 and started to TTC last year. I had an ectopic pregnancy last May and have had difficulty getting pregnant since. About 2 years ago, I learned that I have fibroids. So, this might be a factor as to why we are having difficulty. I am now going to a specialist.

My friend just turned 41 yesterday and is 5 months pregnant with her 2nd baby. Her first is only 1 year old.
Age isnt as important as it used to be!

Re: Any *older* brides on here TTC?
I'm 33 (will be 34 in December) and my husband just turned 31. We just got married in November.
We plan to start trying in the fall. I already take a daily multi-vitamin (which includes 400mg of folic acid). I stopped taking the pill over a year ago. But I am overweight (but not unhealthy). Anything I should start doing in preparation for TTC?
PS This is my first official post on this board (even though its a little early)

Hello Welcome to TTC board! What you might want to do is schedule an appointment with your OBGYN and go over things with your doctor as far as what you should to do prepare to TTC. You can also check out some website like FertilityFriend.com and BabyCenter.com.
Good luck TTC!!! baby dust Kathy

Thanks! I actually my 6 month check up tonight (if it doesn't get cancelled because of the snow). I'll talk to him and see what he says.

Re: Any *older* brides on here TTC?
I'm 36. I have an 11 month old daughter. It took us about 8 or 9 months to get pregnant with her. We are now officially on month 8 of ttc number 2. My DH's cousin is 36 and got pregnant on her first month ttc. Some people are just lucky and it happens right away.

Re: Any *older* brides on here TTC?
I am 33 and FH is 38. After our wedding, lterally that night we will start TTC. I went to see my GYN and he is starting fertility prep on me. He just took a recent blood test for my hormones and he told me everything was fine. He just recommend OTC vitamins that contain at least 400 mcg of folic acid. Anything above that number is fine too but it has to be a minimum of 400. I was also sent for a pelvic sono and we are having FH sperm analysis done next week. I wanted to do whatever we can now to rule out any potential issues later.

DH grandmother did not have her first child (MIL) until she was 36 years old...and that was in 1950 when little "help" was available.
I also know a woman who I work with who just conceived her first child and is 43 I am not sure if she had "help" but she is also a newlywed.

I can relate too. I'll be 36 when we get married (FH w/b 32) and we plan on starting right on our honeymoon.
Glad to see others can relate :)

Re: Any *older* brides on here TTC?
Hey ladies
I met with my GYN for my checkup last week and he recommends starting on the prenatal vitamins at least 3 months prior to planning to conceiving. He gave me a prescription that I can start with since our plan is not to start to try until the fall of this year.
Just thought I'd share.
BD to all that are trying!
