My office is very small, and if you call out sick, you better be dying or everyone will think youre faking.

My first year here I had 1 1/4 sick and 1 1/4 vacation per month. It had to be accumulated before using though, so no sick or vaca. the first month! Now I am up to either 1 1/2 each per month or 1 3/4.

me too! AND we get a total of 7 days a year, sick/vacation combined. When you're there for 3 yrs, it goes up to 10 days.

at my job, had i started at the beginning of the year i would have gotten 10 days vacation, 8 sick, 2 floating and 3 personal. i started in june though so it was all pro-rated. now in my second year i'm up to 11 vacation days, everything else stays the same.

Just curious...... When I was started I was told I was allowed one week per every 6 months (two weeks after a year). Is that true for everyone or are these vacation days good from the start (or at least after the first month)?

I think it all depends on the size of the company and the boss/owner. Check with human resources or your employee handbook. All those things are usually in there. If you're interviewing ask those questions.

Mine were good after the first month. So first month, no days, but then after the first month I had accumulated 1 1/2 of each (sick and vaca).

Often 2 weeks vacation is standard when you are starting a new job - but most companies will have a probationary policy stating when you can start taking time off.The more established you are in your field, the easier it is to negotiate this topic, especially if salary is not too negotiable.

My job only gives 1 week after a year, 2 weeks after 2 years, 3 weeks after 5 years and 4 weeks after 15 years.I think most people get off much better!
