Re: Question.... About Chicken Cutlets that are dated Feb. 17

Were they dated "buy by February 17th" or "use by February 17th"? If it's "buy by" they're usually good for a few days after that point, but "use by" I wouldn't trust them.

When did you buy them? How long were they in the fridge? Smell them, if they smell the slightest bit funky don't chance it!!

Bought them a weak ago. Forgot about them. Cleaned the fridge the other day and found them.

Throw them out if they've been in your fridge for a week.

Then they should still be good, but like boop said, smell them, that's the best bet. If there's a weird odor, or if they have excess slime, throw them away.

Good idea, better to be safe than sorry. If you DO decide to cook them though for some reason, just be sure to cook them to 165 degrees

Re: Question.... About Chicken Cutlets that are dated Feb. 17

You did the right thing.

DH is sooooo overly cautious about that kind of stuff. If something remotely starts to look like it's going bad in our fridge he throws it out...and everything AROUND it!!! No joke. "It's been mingling with the rotten food" he says.

We lose more good food that way....

You have NO idea how many times people spell my name the other. I'm sure you get it a lot too. I always say, if you pronounce it "TIN", then it should be spelled that way!

Re: Question.... About Chicken Cutlets that are dated Feb. 17

I bought a package of chicken and froze them...defrosted them days later and smelled FUNKY!!! Like rotten milk or something.... I brought them back to stop and shop, told them they we bad and they let me get another package~free!!

One time it was my fault...I let them sit too long in the fridge and they smelled...I did the same thing (brought them back) and they said to pick out another pack of chicken. Well I had lots of shopping to do so when I came back to checkout, she rung up the chicken and she gave me cash back for the original price, not the sale price....which was ike 20.00

Hey, I'm usually an honest person....but when it comes to smell chicken....
