Need Opinion on Paint & clashing colors..(edited with 1 picture)

Ok, here is the story, we have a purple (deep) dining room that has an open doorway into the living room, which we just painted a pale yellow - do you think it clashes? I am sorry I don't have any pictures and we have been staring at it for 3 days that I can't even tell anymore - anyone in the same position or have 2 colors close to eachother? Thanks all !

I love purple & yellow together! Especially a pale yellow~

If you are sitting in the dining room looking into the living room (yellow) it looks fine, if you are sitting in living room looking into dining room (purple) it doesn't look so good, and this room is the 1st room you see when you walk in the door, I am afraid the 2 colors in 2 rooms next to eachother aren't flowing right and the house is looking like an Easter Egg

purple and yellow are compliments, so, depending on the exact colors, they can go together quite nicely. Do you have the names or sim. pantone numbers?

The best I could describe is a pale 'post it' yellow

Maybe b/c you just painted, you aren't used to it yet? Maybe give yourself another week or so...

Thanks to all, your definately giving me more confidence on the two rooms - I will try to post pictures of the yellow.

i guess it depends on the tone of the yellow. post a pic when you have the chance.

i think purple and yellow compliment each other. maybe you could try putting a few purple accents in the yellow room to tie the 2 rooms together?
